Two weeks ago, I came swinging with a post, titled “Design Hot Tech: Can designers stop trying to hide everything useful?” In that piece, I went about hiding things such as art, the thermostats behind the router and the doorbell chime box, and inside the impure boxes, photoshopping, such as outlets and cords remove the images from the images … Home utility technology accessories. And I want us-or not-we should start on TV discussion. The comment section was alive and well, with my feelings that may have gone far away in our quests for “beauty” homes, and that we are spending a lot of time and energy, trying to cover those things that someone decided to hide with lines that they did not need to hide because they were ugly.

But many of you also bring a good thing: we do not want or need to hide these things if their design was decent from a distance. Can there be a fine looking smoke detector? Can anyone classify as a really striking or interesting about a chimes box? While I am not ready to die on a good looking home utility item or bust, I will lie if I said I don’t appreciate something that looks better than this.

Keeping this in mind, I decided to research items that are well designed (or very little, good looking), such as thermostats, doorbels, chime boxes, smokes and carbon monoxide detectors, and cord management boxes. Most are available with two exceptions in the US (I will call them out, don’t worry). There are some customs, and you will need to inquire about the price (also noted). But in general, I think there are huge improvements on all cheap or basic options given below that we find in our homes. If the fine details matters to you – and scroll cheese elemental subtitle – scrolling.

    Temptation thermostat

I am not sure what is a “breathtaking” thermostat, but to somewhat a post with clunk items to jazz, I decided to have some fun with a foolish section header, and there are some words that I can use to describe the thermostats that I can look good. Word Smith out there: add some ideas to the comments.

Okay, enough for that nonsense, “beautiful” thermostats are a rare breed. I found a company called Polar Beer Design (#4) This makes a very beautiful bespoke thermostat with Lutron Tech, although keeping in mind that this specific product is not available in America (check them) List of establishments If you are an international reader and interest on their website). However, Lutron has a premium thermostat face with lots of colors and metal options. This is definitely going to be the most important pick here. For ready-to-money products, it is really just Google Nest (#1 And #3) And ecobe (#5) Which has the most well -organized, small interfaces. And if you have baseboard heating units, be sure to check the brand mysa, in which it is a simple and disinterested thermostat (#6,

    1. Google nest learning thermostat (4th gene) 2. Customize Palladiom HVAC control 3. Google Nest Smart Programable WiFi Thermostat Sand 4. All 5. Smart Thermostat Premium 6. Mysa Smart Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heater

Sexy (well … passive) smoke and carbon monoxide detector

A reader of the post mentioned earlier that he spoke about the hope of finding a black smoke detector for a room, which they were working with a dark color on the walls and ceilings, and they found nothing. I really tried, actually very difficult to find a black smoke detector which was good, and really did (#2But, do you know that smoke detectors are often both white to mix with white roofs and walls, but also because white plastic is fire-excitement, thanks to the apart of bromine (which causes yellow over time).

And look, I know that there is nothing here creative motivation, but clearly, they are not going to do. They are easy to warn the American disaster, but below all are quite thin and flush and a touch looks more “elevated”. I have one from X-Sign (#1)) In my bedroom and in the office location below us, and we prefer that the battery lasts for 10 years, so we are not worried about continuous beeping at 3 o’clock in a row at 3 o’clock in a row. note that #5 And #6 Is from a Scandinavian company called Jalo, and only available in the UK and the European Union. They should not be used in states due to separate rules. (But I am sure someone who is something that is fun or different.)

    Darling (and technical) doorbels

Growing up, we had one of those half-inch wide, three-inch long plastic white button doorbells. I thought … it was all there. Nowadays, all bells (ha) and whistle (see) are tons #1 by Google Or #5 from ringCamera, LED lights (#2, #3) So you can see where to push at night, and even only standard non-technicals (like kir-like #4 And #6,

    1. Nest doorbell 2. Touch doorbell button round – bronze 3. Wired Metal Square Surface Mount Doorbel Chime Push button LED button light 4. Patterson Round Doorbel Button 5. Video doorbell wired 6. West Slope Square Doorbel Button

    Attractive chime boxes

First came the doorbells, then the Jhankar boxes came. While many high-tech doors either come with their own plug-in chimes or provide a compatible one to buy, the older doorbell or more low-technical versions will work with traditional chimes boxes. The thing is that, everyone has either forgotten me completely or just a clunk white or cream plastic box is stuck on the nearby wall. But! This can be better than this, I promise. This category of objects is less about being incompatible and more about being seen in this way that connects some nature. I actually cover with ATS in the Wood Chime Box (#1, #2, #7), One is quite modern, a more craftsman style, and below a Frank Lloyd Right style. Of course, you can go out with some bold and brass such as this organ like option rejuvenation#4) Or add some colors with or #6 from lumenIf you are about metallurgy, there are some options Traditional nickel, Modern nickelAnd Brass,

    1. Modern doorbell cover 2. Older iron door chime 3. Nickel door chime 4. Craftsman 5. Mission/Craftsman/Arts & Crafts Style Doorbell Cover 6. Big ring doorbell chime 7. Frank Lloyd Right-Indiges 8. Connoy Door Chime 9. Brush Nickel Door Chime

    Cute Cord Management Boxes

And finally, some cord and cable organ. While I will never see the need to count books or a ratan basket to cover a modem or cable box, I sign the power strips and additional cords of the house on this type of box as they can quickly become a confusion of spaghetti and collect so much dust. In the past, I have like plastic Yamazaki on a #3But there are also beautiful wood versions like this nut box from Etsy (#2Or this cherry one (#6), Also from Etsy. For maximalist, this cobalt from Blue Little House Finnish Design Shop is very fun. West Elm also sells This very beautiful tool cord box For things like your coffee or tea stations (though warning: it is expensive).

    1. Yichuhaoxi cable management box 2. Individual walnut desk wire organizer 3. Yamazaki Hidden Cable Box 4. Cable management box 5. D-line-big cord organizer box-black 6. Solid cherry cable organizer box 7. Minimum cable management box 8. Reds Wood Design Tool Cord Box – Medium 9. Cable House Cable Management Box in Ultra Marine

    ,

And you have this: 38 Cool or, very at least, to some extent decent home utility tech items for your home if you do not want to live your life with either ugly/builder-grade options or want to hide the things behind the picture frame and have assured us inside the boxes like social media.

    By next time…
