    Homemade instant cereal is a simple and healthy oatmeal mixture that you can make at home for children. It is prepared mainly using poha and fried grams of lentils, then cooked with water to make a soft, smooth porridge. You can add a little jaggery syrup or salt to infants over 1 year of age.

    I like to make it at home because it is fresh, there is no guardian and you know what happens in your child’s food. It is very light, easy to fill and digest. You can start giving it after 6 months and keep it as regular breakfast or evening meal. This is one of the easiest home baby foods that you can trust.

    About homemade instant cereal

    Sarelac is usually available in shops, but homemade version is more natural and safe. This mixture is made by dry roasting poha and gram lentils, then grinds in a smooth fine powder. You can store it in airtight container and make porridge immediately whenever needed.

    It is easy to prepare this child, just cook the powder with water until it becomes thick. You can make it plain with a little salt or add jaggery syrup to natural sweetness. You can also create a no-kuk version by adding warm water to the mixture, it will turn into porridge without cooking.

    The porridge tastes light and creamy, and soft poha makes it really smooth for children. Fried gram lentils give some protein and keep filling it. Adding ghee is optional, but it gives prosperity and helps children to digest better. You can prepare it in a small jar of this mixture every month and store it in the fridge.

    I used to make it for my children. It helps a lot in the busy morning when the child is hungry and you need to do something quickly.
