The jalapeno peach chicken recipe comes out of the oven sticky and golden, with jalapeño slices that have gone soft at the edges and peaches that taste like they’ve been kissed by caramel. I made this the first time on a Tuesday when I had two peaches going soft on the counter and half a jar of peach jam in the fridge. Threw in some jalapeños because why not, and that’s how we ended up with our new favorite weeknight dinner.

When William Became a “Spice Expert”

My seven-year-old, William, has recently decided he’s a spice expert. He’ll try anything now, which is a complete turnaround from the kid who used to pick oregano flakes out of spaghetti sauce.

When I pulled this Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe out of the oven, he immediately asked, “Is that candy on the chicken?” The glossy peach glaze does look suspiciously dessert-like.

I told him there were jalapeños in it, and he puffed up his chest. “Mom, I can handle jalapeños now. I’m basically an adult.”

He took a big bite, chewed thoughtfully, and then his eyes went wide. “It’s hot! But it’s also… sweet? Why is it both?”

    “That’s the point, buddy.”

He took three more pieces anyway, periodically fanning his mouth with his hand and announcing, “Still delicious, though.” Then he chugged half his water glass and said, “I might need more chicken to cool down my tongue.”

That logic doesn’t make sense, but I wasn’t going to stop him.

    Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe Ingredients

Here’s what goes into this Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe.

See recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities

    For the Chicken

Boneless skinless chicken breasts: You’ll need about 1 ½ pounds, which is usually around 2 large breasts. These get cut into bite-sized cubes, making them quick to cook and easy to serve.

Peaches: Two fresh peaches add sweetness and a bit of juicy texture. Look for ripe but firm fruit that slices easily.

Jalapeños: One or two, depending on your heat tolerance. These bring the spice and a fresh vegetal flavor that cuts through the sweetness.

Garlic powder: Adds savory depth to the seasoning blend without the hassle of peeling and mincing fresh garlic.

Salt: Enhances all the other flavors and seasons the chicken properly.

Chicken bouillon granules (optional): A little extra savory punch that makes the chicken taste richer. You can skip this if you don’t have it.

Oregano: Brings a subtle herbal note that works surprisingly well with fruit and spice.

Pepper: Just a bit of black pepper for warmth and complexity.

    For the Peach Sauce

Peach jam or preserves: The base of your glaze. This creates that sticky, glossy coating and delivers concentrated peach flavor. One cup is all you need.

Apple cider vinegar: Cuts through the sweetness and adds brightness. Just a tablespoon balances everything perfectly.

Soy sauce: Adds umami and a little saltiness that makes the sauce more complex and savory.

Minced garlic: A small amount of fresh garlic in the sauce gives it depth and aromatic richness.c

How To Make Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe

These oven baked chicken bites come together quickly, and the process is straightforward even for beginner cooks.

Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 420°F. This high heat helps the chicken cook quickly and gives the sauce a nice caramelized finish.

Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes, trying to keep them roughly the same size so they cook evenly. Spread the chicken pieces in an even layer across the bottom of your 9×13-inch baking pan.

Season the chicken: In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, chicken bouillon granules (if using), salt, oregano, and pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken cubes, making sure each piece gets coated. You can use your hands or a spoon to toss everything together if you want.

Make the peach glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the peach jam, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce until smooth. Pour this peach jalapeño sauce over the seasoned chicken, making sure it gets distributed across the pan.

Add the fresh fruit and peppers: Slice your peaches and jalapeños into rounds or half-moons, depending on their size. Arrange these slices evenly over the top of the sauced chicken. They’ll soften and caramelize as everything bakes.

Bake until done: Slide the pan into your preheated oven and bake for 16 to 20 minutes. The chicken is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the edges of the sauce look bubbly and slightly caramelized. The chicken should look cooked through, not pink.

Rest before serving: Let the pan sit for about 5 minutes after you pull it from the oven. This gives the sauce time to thicken slightly and makes it easier to serve without everything sliding around.

    Smart Substitutions and Swaps

No peach jam? Apricot preserves work beautifully and give you a similar sweet-tart vibe. Even orange marmalade could work in a pinch.

Fresh peaches out of season? Use frozen peach slices (thawed and patted dry) or canned peaches (drained well). You can also skip the fresh fruit entirely and just use the jam in the sauce.

Want it spicier? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix, or use serrano peppers instead of jalapeños.

Prefer boneless thighs? They work great here and stay even juicier. Use the same amount by weight and follow the same cooking time.

No apple cider vinegar? Rice vinegar or white wine vinegar will work. Even fresh lime juice adds a nice brightness.

Making it less spicy? Use just half a jalapeño, or remove all the seeds and membranes before slicing. You can also use a mild bell pepper for color and texture without any heat.

Equipment Fpr Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe

This quick Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe requires very basic kitchen tools:

9×13-inch baking pan: This is your main cooking vessel. A glass or metal pan both work fine.

Cutting board and knife: For dicing chicken and slicing peaches and jalapeños.

Small bowl: To mix your dry seasonings.

Medium bowl: For whisking together the peach sauce.

Measuring spoons: To get your seasonings and sauce ingredients right.

Oven: Obviously. Make sure it’s fully preheated before the pan goes in.

Storage Your Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe

Refrigerator storage: Transfer leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 days. The Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe stays moist, and the flavors actually deepen overnight.

Reheating: Warm individual portions in the microwave for 60 to 90 seconds, or reheat everything in a covered baking dish at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Add a splash of water or chicken broth if the sauce seems too thick.

Freezing: While you can freeze this, the texture of the fresh peaches and jalapeños changes quite a bit after thawing. If you do freeze it, use a freezer-safe container and consume within 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Make-ahead option: You can prep the seasoned chicken and sauce a few hours ahead, then add the fresh fruit and bake when you’re ready. Don’t assemble it more than 4 hours in advance, or the chicken can start to break down from the acid in the sauce.

    Expert Tips

Use room-temperature chicken if possible. It cooks more evenly and won’t drop the oven temperature as much when you put the pan in.

Don’t skip the resting time. Those 5 minutes after baking let the sauce thicken and cling to the chicken better.

Cut chicken pieces the same size. This ensures everything finishes cooking at the same time, so you don’t end up with some pieces overcooked and others underdone.

Taste your jalapeños first. Heat levels can vary wildly depending on the pepper. If you’re nervous, take a tiny nibble of a slice before adding them all.

Check for doneness with a thermometer. Chicken needs to hit 165°F internally to be safe. It’s worth the extra step to avoid guessing.

What to Serve with Jalapeno Peach Chicken Recipe

This spicy peach chicken pairs beautifully with simple sides that let the bold flavors shine:

Fluffy white rice or jasmine rice soaks up that sticky peach sauce like a dream. You’ll want something to catch every drop.

Roasted or steamed broccoli adds a fresh, green contrast and gives you a vegetable without much effort.

Garlic bread or dinner rolls are perfect for mopping up extra sauce if you run out of rice. Warm, buttery bread never fails.

A simple green salad with a light vinaigrette balances the sweetness and spice. Keep it basic with mixed greens, cucumber, and tomatoes.

Mashed sweet potatoes play up the fruit-forward sweetness and add a creamy, comforting element.
