Garlic Roti is a delicious paratha made in the usual paratha style by mixing minced garlic with wheat flour and topped with sesame seeds and more garlic. This recipe has a mild spicy flavor and a strong garlic aroma that tastes great when cooked on the pan. Compared to regular plain bread, it tastes more delicious, tasty and also a little richer.

When plain rotis start getting boring at home then garlic roti is a good option. The garlic added flavor to the roti without making it heavy or overly spicy. This recipe has become a good alternative to simple meals. Garlic roti also goes well with simple curry, dal or curd. It tastes great when served hot straight from the pan.

    About Garlic Bread

Garlic bread is a simple twist on the regular wheat bread that is made almost every day in many homes. In this recipe, crushed garlic is added to the dough and spread on top while rolling. This helps the garlic flavor spread evenly and cook thoroughly without remaining raw.

This is a home-style garlic bread and its texture is nothing like restaurant naan. The sesame seeds add a slight crunch and mild nutty flavor that goes great with the garlic. When cooked properly, the roti remains soft on the inside and has small golden spots on the outside.

You can also make small variations as per your taste which can be tried. Some people add chilli pieces or chopped coriander leaves for extra flavour. Multigrain flour can also be used which makes the roti more delicious. Still the taste is good and balanced.

I make this for dinner or weekend meals when I feel like eating something different. This recipe doesn’t take much effort but it still tastes special when served hot.

    Garlic Bread Ingredients

    • Wheat Flour/Multigrain Flour – I just added it to make the dough. This adds softness and helps keep everything together nicely.
    • Garlic – I have used fresh garlic and crushed it well. It gives strong aroma and mild spicy taste. Since I didn’t have a garlic press, I chopped it finely.
    • Oil – I have added oil while kneading the dough, this helps in keeping the rotis soft even after cooling. Ghee can be used for more taste.
    • sesame seeds – I used them on bread. It gives light crispness and nutty taste. I have used mostly white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds can also be used.
    • oil/butter/ghee – I apply butter or ghee after cooking. It adds shine and extra flavour, you can also use oil if required.
