about lemonade
Lemonade is one of the most commonly made summer beverages in Indian homes. It is known for its instant cooling effect and refreshing taste. Almost every household has its own way of making it, some like it sweet while others like it more spicy. It is useful to drink immediately during summers.
This lemonade recipe tastes light and watery, not thick or heavy. Ice cubes make it more refreshing and cold water gives instant relief from the heat. Adding lemon slices on top also adds slight bitterness which balances the sweetness well. This makes the drink look more refreshing and tempting.
This drink is very simple but still satisfying. Fresh lemon juice provides the main flavor and the sugar syrup smoothes out the sharp sourness. You can also add a pinch of salt or mint leaves for a change, but plain lemon water also goes well with spicy snacks. It works well even without any added flavor.
I make the syrup in advance and keep it in the fridge. Just mix with water and ice and it’s ready in minutes. You can use up to several glasses of this syrup in a day. You can also add sugar or jaggery to lemonade, both versions are given.

Lemonade Ingredients
- Lemon – I used fresh lemon juice, it gives a clean tangy flavor. You can also use larger lemons, just reduce the quantity.
- sweetener – I use sugar to make syrup, it gives sweetness and smooth texture. You can use powdered sugar but the syrup method works better. You can also use jaggery by making syrup.
- ice cubes – I mix the drink when serving it to make it extra cold. You can also crush them a little.
- cold water – I just mix it with syrup to dilute the lemonade and make it drinkable.
- lemon slices – I use it for decoration and mild additional flavor. You can leave out or add mint leaves instead.
