Today’s post is a niche post, but since we are all design lovers here, I thought it was a safe space 🙂 If you all like this, maybe this could be a little series too – things each of us are currently obsessed with, and what our Pinterest boards are filled with. Today, I will first talk about unique wooden picture frames. I’ve been pinning these for at least over a year, and finally decided I needed to talk about them, find ones that are worth buying, and maybe eventually start carving my own. I actually received carving knives as a gift about 10 years ago and I haven’t used them yet. Maybe this should be my hobby because lord knows I need one, ha.
To me, these are special, standalone pieces. Of course, style them however you like, but given their uniqueness, I think they offer a good opportunity to make a small design statement. Think about a small wall on one side and above a headboard, under a window, above a window (or door), you’ll find it. Let me show you a good number of the beauties I pinned because they stole my heart, and then lots of great shoppable beauties too.
Oh, my first love! It’s a complete art piece rather than just a fancy frame, but oh my god, what I would give to have it in my home. This piece is from the artist Alicia Adamerovichand is called please don’t block the void. I love the curved wood, the pointed tops, the slightly asymmetric designs, all the richly carved wood.
Who created this piece? emma kohlman. you probably know his work This tabletop collaboration with Hay. I feel like getting my hands on some of those pieces too! But back to this frame (and art piece). I just admire the texture, and how the art pieces inside the frame both complement and contrast with each other. It’s absolutely special and one of a kind (even if it technically isn’t, I’m not sure :)) and if you’re looking for a beautiful coffee table book, that’s all he has.
You all know how much I love circle details 🙂 Sadly, I don’t know the artist. There’s a part of me that maybe I could recreate something like this, maybe with my carving tools? It’s absolutely simple and good! Think how much life this would bring to a wall.
There are almost no words when it comes to this. artist, nourain inamcalls this piece a lot of emptiness. visit this post Read on to read more about its meaning, but the first look will take your breath away. The wood of the frame has a lot of character and beauty in itself, but then the hand and ear carvings take it to another dimension.
Again, I don’t know this particular artist, but I have seen other pieces like this and have thought about making one myself. Really a beautiful piece of wood, with a perfectly carved corner for tile pieces or any type of art. Ooh, this is so beautiful. i found an artist with this name M KettnerWhose wooden frame work is unreal. See this piece.
Well, hello, old vagabond art! We all know Emily (and the team) have a deep love for vintage popsicle lamps, but this is probably the first time I’ve seen a vintage popsicle frame. If I had it, I would literally watch it all the time.
If you want to be inspired by modern frames and how they interact with art, let me introduce you to Eli Craven. I love this creation, but if you visit his site, you will find a treasure trove of surreal works.
Another unknown artist (to me), and I might even dare say the simplest of the group… but, it’s very catchy, isn’t it?? I have made something almost similar for display in my living room. Modern warmth, if you like 🙂
Now, let’s browse the unique wooden picture frames that you can actually buy. Some are new, some are old, some are really affordable, and some are low cost. But regardless, I hope this helps train your eye to keep an eye out for really good frames/artwork, whether you’re shopping online or in person. let’s go!

wooden square photo frame | rectangular wooden photo frame | wooden round photo frame
All three of these sweet frames are from the same Etsy shop. And get it. For smaller sizes, they start at less than $20! I love all the shapes and the two-tone look. How cute would it be to have a small item in an unexpected place??

Handmade Sapele Wood Photo Frame | Hand Carved Walnut Picture Frame
These two are less affordable, but wow, are they beautiful. I love that they are the same size but in different styles. First Whereas, is more geometric Second Is more round and soft.

Big Wiggle Walnut Wood Picture Frame | Edinburgh Walnut Wood Wall Picture Frame
For something more ornate but still modern traditional feels these are two beauties. The Large Wiggle Very special and crazy! second frame Actually from Crate & Barrel and just under $100.

antique art nouveau mahogany frame | Curved antique art nouveau mahogany frame | antique oval mahogany frame
I’ve decided I must get one of these art nouveau vintage frames. I’m not usually a fan of lacquered decor, but these are very special. I love that they’re slightly bulbous and round and generally wonderful.

Antique Art Deco Solid Wood Frame | Arden Oval Frame
What I like about both of these is that there is nothing decorative about them. art deco frame It has an arched top and oval opening, but otherwise it’s completely flat and really nice. oval frame It has great texture, but again flat and with an oddly rounded rectangular opening. The wood is as much the star as the art or photos that will go inside.

Another dream structure of mine. I really like miniature art, and this is a perfect form for that. It still takes up wall space physically and visually, but because the “window” is so small it draws you in. It’s very attractive, completely modern but also organic and warm. 1000/10.

hand carved wooden frame | Unique Round Corner INSTAX Mini Polaroid Frame
Stop it! How sick are they?! For the first oneIt’s more on the organic side; You also get that really beautiful piece of art! Second A little more “sophisticated” and “modern” and that’s great. Plus, if you’re a Polaroid user, it fits perfectly instax mini film.

Artisan Carved Waved Solid Wood Frame | modern nordic solid wood frame
Want some more craze? Me too. I didn’t think a carved wavy frame would be something I’d be so attracted to, but I love it that first one too much. Again, I guess this is a stand-alone piece, a “let it shine on its own” piece, but that’s just me 🙂 Second It is also very charming. It’s just personality, you know.

wooden cross frame | Amish Primitive Cross Stitch Wall Art Set | wooden square photo frame
And finally, for my geometric shape lovers, these are all big winners. That first wooden cross is technically a mirror, but I liked it so much I didn’t care, ha. oh, y’all, he Amish Primitive Cross Stitch Set It’s only $35! There’s only one, so somebody jump on it! However, if many of you prefer a square wooden frame, it comes in several sizes, isn’t vintage, and starts at just $14 for the smallest size. Adding a little geometric shape to a room can really help balance out all the round pieces many of us design with. All winners.
Are you in love too? Are you also adding to cart as we speak? Are there any other specific decor pieces you’re obsessed with? lets chat!
