Isn’t it one of life’s sweet pleasures to look at a piece of furniture or decor and think, “Ooh, I’m sure it costs more than I can afford,” only to find out that it’s within your budget? Maybe even affordable? Today we are going to explore this. We made a fashion version of this a few years ago, and obviously, it was a big hit. So, since we are an interior design site, first and foremost it is time we did it with affordable furniture and decor. Naturally, we turned to one of our favorite retailers known for its incredible deals and quality, wayfairTo show you fabulous things that your guests will think cost you an arm and a leg (but in reality, all your beautiful parts will still be firmly attached to your body :)). Okay, I’m excited. Let’s come to the first part…
Retro-Style Solid Wood Leisure Chair – $490
I’m off to a pretty strong start if I do say so myself. No surprise, I love the circle cut-out, the vintage vibe, the floppy arms and how comfortable it looks. The even better news is that all reviews confirm that it’s comfortable. But based on this post, if this chair were sold at most other major retailers, its price would easily double. It’s luxurious, chic, unique and doesn’t sacrifice comfort – so it’s perfect. It also comes in brown leather 🙂
Mid-Century Modern Lounge Chair – $325
Now this is another great statement chair at a “non-statement chair” price. It also comes in solid form, but I love the cabana stripe when done correctly. Actually, when I saw this chair for the first time, I immediately thought of this picture Orlagh McCloskey’s London homeSee below:
This image has not left my mind since I saw it 2-3 years ago. I love all the elements together, but that clear striped chair is my heart. This wonderful playful chair from Wayfair really captures that essence and would look incredible in the right space.
Wood Upholstered Barstool (Set of 2) – $340 | scandinavian barstool (Set of 2) – $174
Dining chairs and stools are expensive, especially since you need more than one. So when I saw these two options, I was ecstatic! I know Emily is a big backrest supporter when it comes to barstools, but those seat cushions look very comfortable. Style-wise, I like how the wood wraps around the seat. The overall design looks very thoughtful, and for that price, I’m into it. Other full wooden set looks very “simple but special”. Oh, and individually priced, they’re under $100 each. If you’re going to be sitting for long periods of time you might consider getting a cute cushion, but otherwise, the styling is great.
Solid Wood Modern Farmhouse Coffee Table – $230
I’m sorry, please see how the bottom shelf wraps around the legs in a custom-looking manner. This coffee table can work with many different styles. It’s organic and modern and none of that is too much, if that makes any sense. I love it. This is really weird because I was trying to figure out a similar shelf design for my bathroom vanity 🙂 Then again, I could see this piece easily going for double the price.
Handmade Burl Wood Coffee Table – $286
Oh, hello, vintage looking coffee table. Burlwood is one of those materials that will always be cool and beautiful. And this piece is simple but modern, and I love the checkerboard detail. But if we’re just talking looks, this baby is effortlessly versatile and has the right amount of visual weight and texture. It also comes in light and dark wood options!
travertine textured coffee table – $280
Here’s the last coffee table for this post, but this is another nice one. That mix of ingredients is a chef’s kiss. This is the perfect table for adding some shape and texture, but in a cool way that will be very pleasing to your eyes. I mean, it could easily work with a brightly colored velvet sofa (how cool would that be). oscar??) Or perfect in a really neutral, minimalist home. It’s got range, baby!
Modern TV Stand Storage Credenza – $570
If your first thought when you saw this credenza/media cabinet was, “Oh, this is really pretty,” me too. I like the low profile, wood grain, and its overall simplicity. Also, did you read Arlin’s design mistake post about the media cabinet??? It’s wide, so it’s perfect for people who need a great looking, tall credenza (and looks really expensive). Also, I know it’s over $500, but I promise it’s the only one.
tv stand with drawers – $170
It’s not as wide as the last one, but tell me it doesn’t look like a piece straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog?? And yes, that price is right! This beauty is under $200. Also, in case you forgot the name of the product, they are drawers, not cabinet doors. I really love him very much! Perfect for cozy blankets, toys, etc.
Floor lamp with cone-shaped shade – $113 | traditional floor lamp – $110
I love lamp! And if I had the space, I would happily keep both of these in my home. And oh lord, they’re very affordable, but look expensive. If you like modern design, these are perfect. If you like traditional designs, these will add freshness. If you have an eclectic design, these will work too!
Tavener Vickery Metal Table Lamp – $99
Ha, you didn’t think I’d only include two lamps, did you? no way. I get giddy after seeing this. The color is dark but not too much as the base is very thin. The shade is so charming and cool that your space will instantly feel like a modern Milan home. So yes, I think this lamp looks more expensive than it is 🙂
Wicker Table Lamp – $123
I love wicker, and I love oversized lamps! It checks both of those boxes. This cutie is 27.5″ long! This is a great way to make a more traditional item feel modern. Playing with scales is a lot of fun.
Rumford Nightstand – $64 | Traditional Solid Wood Nightstand – $270
Okay, so I know I’ve recommended the nightstand a few times before, but that’s because I think it can’t get any prettier than this, and the price is unrealistic! It looks more expensive than it is, it’s wild. Now, the second one is more expensive, but boy, is it beautiful. The wood grain is stunning (plus it’s solid wood), I love the trim details, it has the cute little pull-out shelf and three drawers. Then, on top of all that, it has built-in outlets at the back. It literally has everything, and it costs less than $300. In this market, that’s very, very good.
Orson Mid-Century Modern Platform Bed with Upholstered Headboard – $430
This bed looks absolutely special, doesn’t it? The woven cane and wingback style is already very beautiful. But then you add that green upholstered headboard accent, and it really becomes a showstopper.
Eco-Friendly Bamboo Platform Carved Bed – $256 | McLean Metal Bed – $240
Two beds for under $300?? Yes:) Spindle beds, regardless of style, are always a classic. I think these two are so beautiful and would really make a bedroom sing.
modern solid wood dresser – $410
A midcentury modern classic shape with very pretty knobs. Plus, the six drawers are a huge amount of storage! Oh, and needless to say, this piece is also made of solid wood. You can use it forever and it won’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
Hingham 5 Drawer Dresser – $180
Isn’t this dresser so beautiful?? It really feels like a modern classic and can work with many styles. A touch of contemporary flair and perfect to grow with. Plus, that wood color is stunning, and don’t worry, those legs are solid wood! All that for less than $200. Very good.
36″ Single Bathroom Vanity – $390
Wayfair has a lot of great bathroom vanities, so this and the next are a very small sample. What I like about it (besides the price) is the amount of storage and counterspace. This is a perfect traditional style which is really beautiful. It also comes in green and white!

this is also elegant! I love the look of all those drawers, but these are secretly two drawers and two cabinets. This vanity looks really expensive, but still, it costs less than $400, which is great. To me, you can’t lose with this. I mean, how cute are those knobs?! It also comes in white color 🙂
Okay, that’s all for today. I hope this gave you hope (or a reminder) that there really is great (and expensive-looking) affordable furniture everywhere and especially at Wayfair. So if you are decorating, definitely take a look.
