Ah, marble. One of the most expensive and yet impactful finishes you can add to a room. This is material that has the power to make your venue really sing – from an off-pitch soloist singing a cappella to a choir harmonizing with a full orchestra. However, you may have to give up your first child to pay for the slabs and construction, so choosing the right stone is a big decision. There’s a very fine line between choosing a marble or stone that will modernize your home or modernize it – and that can change a lot in just a few years. What a fun gamble! Like everyone else and their mother, I love the classics Carrara, soap stoneOr Calcutta Timelessness in marble and those choices (although I go back and forth on Calcutta Viola This is the most beautiful stone I have ever seen or if it is going to be a 2026 trend marker in 10 years). But sometimes (especially when the price is in the thousands), you want something unique and fresh, if you will. Probably something that not everyone has in their home. That’s why I believe rich, vibrant, colorful marble is becoming more popular now than ever – especially burgundy And Blue Marble and stone.

    Some backstory:

It’s true: we’re being adventurous these days!! Over the past 10 years, we’ve written off gray entirely and swung the pendulum toward warm woods and bright, rich colors. This was a necessary change, in my opinion – grey, if not done correctly, can be so cold and gloomy as a color, so it’s time we made our homes feel warmer. But as someone who just moved into a home with 80% gray hard finish, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to change it and what material is the right choice for our home. Now, if you also have a good amount of gray in your home that is too difficult to change, you too can absolutely make it work – take a look at the makeover I did earlier this year, where we worked around my parents’ gray vinyl floors. We’ve added a lot of warmth to our decor so far, but I no longer rent (wild!!), so I’m super excited to take the next step, start some renovations, and give these tough finishes some more personality.

However, I’m a little afraid of choosing something that I won’t love in a few years – as I’m sure many of us are. And the even scarier part is how expensive hard finishes can be! It feels like you have to love every finish so much otherwise… why are you spending time and money on renovations?? So, I’m in the early research/dreaming stages to see what makes my heart sing, and I have to say, my Pinterest board has been taking off lately. My plan is to pin the thing that initially makes my heart go “Ooh!” Then wait and revisit it in a few weeks or months and see which images still have the same impact on my heart (it’s a very emotional process). And then see what I can actually get that won’t cost as much as college tuition 🙂

The color palette for my entire home is heavy in the burgundy, blue, and walnut department, with a few guest roles from cognac, ocher, and butter yellow. One reason for this is that I have always liked these colors; Another part of it (I’m sure) is that these colors are very on trend right now. Some people may disagree, but I believe we will always disagree at least a little We are influenced by what is trending, whether we are aware of it or not. I’m trying to avoid putting super trendy colors in hard finishes (i.e., butter yellow), but the color palette is naturally made up of what we already have and love — so I’m excited to see how it evolves. While I was searching for inspo, I was furnishing lots of bathrooms and kitchens with fun marble options, so I’m going to take a look at some of my Pinterest boards to show you some of the unique stones I’m seeing right now – and I want your thoughts and feelings!!

Burgundy (and brown) stone is hot right now – I’ve seen designers using them left and right. I personally am already rocking hard with the burgundy stone, haha. I’m the first to start renovating my closet (our clothes don’t fit in one rod in our current closet, so we’re adding some shelves, more rods, and shelves!), so you’ll be seeing that soon! We’re doing something unconventional and laying tile on the floor and putting a rug on top of it. It’s a long story, but basically, it’s a small square footage, and the carpet we loved was going to cost us more than it cost us wildly. so i was going to A broken breccia vino checkerboard tile But then the order timelines totally messed up (another long story I’ll get into later but this is your warning to not order this tile) so we’re going in a different direction but I still love this burgundy colored stone (and apparently it’s become popular because it’s going out of stock!).

Most of these examples are of Rosso Levanto, which is a stone I love and is very popular at the moment. You might remember that I had This Rosso Levanto Marble Coffee Table In my previous apartment, and of course I brought it with me to my new place, but one of the bolts holding it together broke during the move and it didn’t look quite right in our new living room. But the marble is gorgeous so I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to give it new life and potentially see if we can turn it into a vanity or sink into our powder bath or something else fun (could be a crazy expensive pipe dream but we’ll see).

My favorite application of this is usually in a bathroom with tonal burgundy and wood surrounds. It gives a rich, velvety feel that feels gorgeous.

This marble can sometimes come in handy for me – I feel like sometimes it might be too much in an entire room (like in the kitchen) but I have seen some examples (like Here And Here) where I really like it as a backsplash so I go back and fourth. I still think I like it best in the bathroom but what do you guys think??

    blue stone

This is the more controversial of the two if you ask the EHD team – when did it all start Kate Hudson’s kitchen revealed was published on and people on the internet had a lot to say about it blue cristallo marble. Whether you like it or not, it’s becoming very popular right now – that marble house seen again on Beautiful Here And I think it’s fun to talk about it. That was the EHD team’s opinion when we first saw it. Personally, I like bluestone when it’s a little more concise a blue quartzite (This one So pretty too) and was like “We need to talk about this on the blog because bluestone is really everywhere right now and I have tons of example pins I want to share!!” So that’s what inspired me to write this post! Let me share some of these blue marble pins and let me know what you think about this trending stone:

Now, first of all, some of these blue stones are technically green/blue and can kind of bend in between as here troye sivan’s house Above 🙂 Green marble and stone In my eyes it has never gone out of style (like the beautiful quartzite in the mountain house!!) – so maybe that’s why more blueish stones are having their moment right now.

A lot of these stones can be a little more muted and earthy, which I also find really beautiful (and as long as they have some warm colors in them too, they can be timeless because they’re so cool IMHO). What I love about these blue stones is that they mimic ocean waves in many ways which is really peaceful and would work especially well where I am as I’ve just moved close to the beach!!

Anyway, enjoyed showing you guys some of my observations. What is your opinion on these stones?? Are they really good and popular or are you against them? Is it appropriate to keep them at home? Leave your suggestion below!! Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed that fun eyecandy 🙂
