Hello, everyone! So we’re trying something new today…Nancy Meyers version:) We really love helping you create homes you love, and we’re always excited when we can improve how we do that. You may have heard them mention a design program called Say. It’s an interior design program that is both easy to use and powerful, and some of its AI features are very well done (not something I think is happening in most capabilities right now…). I am not someone who identifies herself as a tech-savvy person. I’m not useless, but I wouldn’t say that new technology comes naturally to me. So when M wanted us to learn how to use the spoke, I was a little hesitant. But let me tell you that while I’m still learning how to really make the most of all its tools, it is very nice. In fact, this was actually my second time using it in the making of this post, which is a true testament to how user-friendly it is, and how, if you’re looking for something to help you design your space, friends, Spoke is it!
You’ll see more planning options/possibilities as we go through the farmhouse guest cottage design process, but today, I’m helping a wonderful reader with her new living room. She wanted to create a living room that resembled (or was inspired by) a Nancy Meyers movie. It is a beloved style that is layered, warm, vibrant and more traditional. Oh, and in case you forgot it, Arlin wrote a whole post about how to get the aesthetic right here! Ok, now coming to the design 🙂

“Moved into a new house with a formal living room. We only have a gray couch and a mirror. I ordered 2 large accent chairs (gray striped) to add to the room. I don’t know where to start. I want to give it a traditional/cozy vibe. I want this house to have a Nancy Meyers vibe.”

I want to show you how we started. Now there can definitely be more furniture, art, etc. spoke’s equipment You can delete it, but the cleaner your space is, the better. Oh, and nice wide, straight-on shots help reduce the steps of trying to adjust a bad photo. Plus, how beautiful is this formal living room? This is asking to be a Nancy Meyers place! And it’s a blank slate. Once you’ve inserted a photo of your room (if you have one), on the side of the screen, you have the option to remove items, change surfaces (great if you’re renovating) or simply specify what changes you’d like. You also have the option of creating a room or a space at height if you don’t have photos, but luckily, we did that.

Nancy Meyers-Inspired Living Room: The “Less” Budget-Focused Version

Welcome! How funny is this??! Now, this version is definitely not cheap as everything in the world is expensive…even the affordable stuff, which we’ll get into in detail later. I think the real key to a true Nancy Meyers space is personal things – I’m talking family photos, books, trinkets from generations past, so this is (in my opinion) a very solid starting point. However, I love him that credit From the one and only Ginny MacDonald from her Lulu and Georgia series 🙂
Furthermore, in terms of completely Designing a space really takes time. Find deals, explore garage sales, thrift shops, and flea markets. Although this space doesn’t have any specific budget in mind, it’s intended to provide an idea of what this reader might have their eye on. For example, wall art and wall plates can be purchased, but they may already have great art and plates from their parents that they can hang, but haven’t thought about doing it in these ways.

they are real chairs The reader bought, but a different sofa. If in the future they want something different, I like the idea of a slipcover look. I also had an idea that, if they wanted, they could possibly replace the legs of their current sofa to make it feel more customized! Wayfair has a ton of optionsBut Etsy And others have great selections too.
I only had the overall size of the room, but I believe if you input all the measurements of your space, the furniture will be scaled appropriately by Spoke, which is another Very Useful feature! But overall, I really just wanted to lean toward a traditional style and neutral color palette that still had some depth. green beaver This was one way I tried to “spicy up” it, and the art is another really easy (but not visually overwhelming) way to add some color. I think Pierce and Ward collaboration In West Elm (where else floor lamp And wooden side table ) is a great place to get some “modern” Nancy Meyers decor options. They are very special but not very bold or ornate. Oh, and never forget a yummy raffle this seat cushion🙂

And here’s a much more budget-friendly version! but what’s good about it Say This means that all the products you add (which can be imported via product link or just an image) are all saved to your project, so you don’t have to do it again from a different angle. So clearly, I kept striped chairs, mirror, couchAnd some other highlights. Everything was just ready and waiting for me to add it back. And although there are some pieces I remember from the first edition, I honestly like this one just as much. To me the painted ceramics also reflect the Nancy Meyers/90s-00s style.
One thing I really tried to do was create fairly low contrast for a really soothing, happy room. I wouldn’t say that all Nancy Meyers films have low contrast, but most do! If you’re not sure what I mean by low contrast design, please skip to this.

oh, both these scones And People Are cordless since the first version! That means no hardwiring is required. Nancy loves a lot of lamps in a room, so these sconces feel very important. You may also have noticed that I placed a set of art pieces below each window 🙂 It’s fun, it’s unexpected, and it helps fill up the room in a very intense way! And if you like that white blanket, I’m so sorry, but that was one of the many stock items Spoke had for you to choose from (so I don’t know where it came from). I used that blanket, some boards, and the fig leaf tree. It’s very useful to add a few more layers without having to search.
So there you have it, two living rooms inspired by Nancy Meyers that I hope will help this reader create the living room they’ve been dreaming of. We will continue to play and use SaySo if you want to throw your room in a hat, you can submit here.
