It’s really surprising that I haven’t posted many raita recipes. So posting more raita recipes and this cucumber raita is very simple and quick recipe which can be prepared in just 10 minutes which works as a great side dish for biryani, pulao, roti etc. Be sure to try this creamy, delicious cucumber raita and enjoy!

About Cucumber Raita
Cucumber raita is made by first whipping curd until thick and creamy, then adding freshly grated cucumber along with herbs and spices. Cucumber Raita is a healthy, no-cook dish to accompany rice meals like biryani, pulao and flatbreads like rotis, parathas and chapatis.
Cucumber raita is also called cucumber raita. This raita can be made in many ways and this is my opinion on it. This is how I prepare cucumber raita and it is one of my family’s favorites so I make it often.
Cucumber has natural cooling properties so cucumber raita is very refreshing and cooling especially during summers. This raita can be served with any spicy rice meal as it reduces the heat of your meal. You can also serve it with spicy sambar rice.

Cucumber Raita Ingredients
- Curd – Use thick curd to make the ultimate creamy and delicious cucumber raita.
- Cucumber – Choose fresh long variety cucumber which has less or no seeds.
- spice powder – Chaat masala powder, black pepper powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder are used.
- coriander leaves – Coriander leaves add good flavor to raita.

How to make Cucumber Raita step by step
1.Add 1 and 1/2 cup thick chilled curd in a mixing bowl.

2.Whisk it well until it becomes smooth and creamy. If it is too thick then you can add 1 -2 tbsp water or milk, I did not add it.

3. Add ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder, ¼ teaspoon chaat masala powder, ½ teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder and ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder.

4.Whisk until it mixes well.

5. Add 1 cup chopped cucumber and 1 tablespoon curry leaves.

6. Mix it well.

7. Cucumber raita is ready. serve chilled!

Serve chilled cucumber raita!
Expert Tips
- You can also grate the cucumber instead of cutting it. But I personally prefer thicker pieces in raita.
- Indian cucumber has a thick skin, so first trim the edges, peel the skin, then grate or chop the cucumber as per your choice.
- If you prefer to use the peel, choose English cucumbers or Japanese cucumbers.
- You can also add more black pepper powder instead of red chili powder.
- Always whisk the curd well before adding the ingredients to any type of raita.
- Use thick curd for raita.
- If you do not want the color of the raita to change then use regular chilli powder instead of Kashmiri red chilli powder.
- I usually use roasted cumin powder for best taste.

Cucumber raita can be served with rice, roti, paratha, pulao, biryani etc. This raita is kept in the refrigerator for 1 day, after which the taste of cucumber changes.

1.What kind of cucumber to use?
It is best to use long variety cucumbers. Indian small cucumbers can also be used, but be sure to use cucumbers that have little or no seeds. You can also use English or Japanese cucumbers.
