About Jelly Custard Popsicles
Jelly Custard Popsicles are a unique twist from regular ice cream or plain popsicles. It’s creamy and has a nice mix of textures. The base is vanilla custard that adds a rich flavour, while jelly cubes add light chewiness and color to every bite. Kids love seeing the colors swirling inside and have a lot of fun eating it.
This recipe is very flexible, you can use any flavor of jelly you like – rose, strawberry or pineapple all taste great. This is also a great way to use up leftover jelly. The best part is that it doesn’t require any fancy ingredients or equipment. Just mix, freeze and enjoy. I also add small pieces of fruit to it, which makes it more delicious.
You can even make these ahead and keep them in the freezer for small parties or family gatherings. They remain fresh and tasty for many days. It’s also fun for kids to help choose their favorite jelly colors and pour the mixture into the mold. This is an easy way to get kids involved in cooking without much hassle.
I often make this when I need something cold and quick to eat without much effort. The look itself is pretty with those shiny jelly cubes peeking through the creamy custard. Even adults can’t resist eating more than one at a time.
Jelly Custard Popsicles Ingredients
- Milk – I add full cream milk for better taste and creamy texture. You can also use toned milk.
- custard powder – I have used it as the main thickening agent and gives it a soft creamy texture. I like vanilla flavor, but you can also try mango or butterscotch.
- Sugar – This increases the sweetness and balances the mild flavor of the custard. You can add more or less as per your wish.
- jelly- I have just added pieces of rose jelly, it gives a beautiful color and fruity taste. You can use any flavor like strawberry or orange or even mix a few.
- cardamom powder – Optional, but it adds a mild aroma that pairs well with the custard flavor. Sometimes I just add a little.
- Water – Necessary for making jelly. You can follow as per jelly packet instructions.

Expert Tips
- Custard – I usually cook it until it thickens a bit but is still pourable. It thickens when it cools, so do not overcook.
- Mixing jelly – Always cool the custard completely before adding the jelly cubes, otherwise the jelly will start melting. I made that mistake once.
- sweetness- I always taste the custard before freezing because after freezing the sweetness of the custard reduces a bit. You can add some more sugar if required.
- to open – When removing, I dip the bottom of the mold in water for a few seconds and wait before taking it out. It comes out clean.
- Taste Ideas – You can try different jelly flavors for a colorful look. Mango with rose or pineapple with orange work really well.
serving and storage
Serve the Jelly Custard Popsicles cold straight from the freezer. You can sprinkle some chopped nuts on top while serving to make it tastier. It tastes best when eaten immediately after opening as it melts a little quickly. If making in advance, cover it tightly and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
