Happy Sunday and a happy (almost) Lunar New Year! We were so grateful to spend a week together as a team in Palm Springs last week. As always, it was a worthwhile love fest, and we left feeling very fulfilled in the best way. A few of us got there early and experienced the wonders of Mallory’s grandmother’s perfect ’80s condo. It was the Palm Springs dream! Okay, here are this week’s links…
This week’s home tour It’s an incredible design pleasure. Commune Design (an EHD favorite!) designed Scout Willis’ historic 1920s LA home. The integrity of the home remains beautifully intact while still feeling personal to Scout. It’s very dreamy, so please go check it out!
From Emily: I have good news and bad news (hair-wise). Good news: my hair is so thick right now Nutrafol (now at 8 months). The bad news is that I have to struggle with wearing a helmet every day because my “old hair” is long and thin (below my shoulders). I’ll say it before, and I’ll say it again, I know it’s a commitment, I know it may seem expensive, but it works. You will not see the difference for 3 months, but then get ready.
From Caitlin: Okay, this is going to start out depressing, but stay with me: Before she passed away, my mom got a Towala Oven. The appliance was free as long as she purchased a set number of meals…so I became a Tovala customer in an effort to meet her quota so I could return the oven. This is where the story turns: Turns out, I love it! Every week, I place an order (Dane and I get 8 meals, but you can choose more or less) and we receive ultra-fresh, ultra-tasty meals in the mail. They take seconds to prepare, and then you simply scan the QR code and 5-20 minutes later, you’re rewarded with a delicious, homemade meal. It’s like magic! It’s been a lifesaver for those nights when neither of us have the energy to prep and cook, and it’s saved me big bucks on impulsive DoorDash ordering. It’s also saved me a ton on grocery bills – I’m finally eating my veggies and not having the responsibility of finishing the entire bag of spinach before it’s gone. Tovala, you’ve found a super fan in me! (As I write this, I have a crispy buffalo chicken pasta warming up—my cooking will be followed by a red wine-braised fillet in the den. Will we eat some pretzel bites with warm cheese dip afterward? You know it! It’s really like magic. I mean it.)
From Mallory: Austin and I recently made Calabrian chili pasta, and wow is it delicious. We basically made vodka sauce and threw some these bad boys There’s (probably too much because ours was very spicy, so take care before pouring half the jar), but the flavor is absolutely divine. Now we will keep these in our fridge regularly.
From Gretchen: At the end of January, I took a quick trip to Central America. Good friends of mine (who work remotely) decided to “relocate” to Costa Rica for a few months and rented a place with a guest room, making sure there was enough room for friends to come and stay – which I immediately took advantage of. You might remember that M and her family traveled there a few years ago (she shared her entire itinerary and rex here). They had the best time of their lives, and honestly so did I. Together, my friends and I went zip-lining (at the same place where M, Selvatura Park-Highly recommended), visited hot springs, had a night adventure, and saw lots of incredible animals. Getting there was a little tricky (hello, propeller plane), and because of this, I wanted to make sure to pack as smart and light as possible. i borrowed from another friend Incredible Cotopaxi Backpack She recently went on a trip and fell in love. This pack is made from reused, deadstock materials, so the colors you get are a bit mysterious, which I guess is part of the appeal. Environmental aspects are not mentioned. But it was such an efficient and comfortable bag and had a huge capacity. Lots of great pockets and straps. If you need a bag that packs a punch but still fits in an overhead bin, I highly recommend this. Yes, it’s expensive, but anyone who has used it will tell you that it’s more than worth it.
From Marley: About a year ago, I received a sample of Le Labo’s Noir 29 fragrance – bergamot, black tea, fig, vetiver, musk – delicious! The only problem is that a bottle costs up to $340. Sorry, not happening! Luckily, I found Dossier – a fragrance brand that makes duplicates for name-brand fragrances – I ordered them. citrus tea Smell, and it smells exactly like that. The. Same. And for only $49. This is by far one of my most admired fragrances, and I love being able to spritz it myself freely without “price-per-spritz” lingering in the back of my mind. In the past year, I’ve used about half the bottle, and I wear it often, so it’s definitely great value. I love it!
From Jess: As you’re reading this, we just got back from an amazing team retreat in Palm Springs. And because we were going to blog planning by the pool (ha!), I really needed a new suit. I’ve found that a lot of the swimsuits I look at don’t give me the middle ground I’m looking for. They’re either too small (which can be fun but aren’t ideal for every situation) or they have more coverage than I expected. So when I saw this left on friday store last weekend, I was so excited to find it this top And these bottoms In their Sweet Chili Heat color (aka red and lots of it). baywatch). One of my best friends has been wearing their suits for years, but for whatever reason, I haven’t tried them yet. Their suits are made for “active living”, and some of their tops go up to a G cup. I feel good, confident and safe in this suit, that’s all I could really ask for 🙂
From Arlin: I’ve been a fan of the designer for a long time laura hodgesBut I recently discovered her shop, Domain Home Decor + Gifts. Special mention is made of vintage sectionWhich is a rotating collection of delightful small household items and sometimes some furniture. Right now, she has beautiful bentwood dining chairs, some great vintage baskets, and – probably my favorite – beautiful glassware like this trio of yellow glass bowlsor this Set of vintage green glass juice cups. Take a look, as there are many treasures to discover here at great prices!
