happy Sunday everyone! We think it’s fair to say it was a big week for Jess with the reveal of her living room and bedroom, as well as celebrating 9 years at EHD. If you missed those rooms, definitely go see them. Otherwise, the PDX team had a very exciting shoot, and everyone is gearing up for a great November. Let’s go to the link.
This week’s home tour A pink lover’s dream! designer claudia lambertCreated a post-modern, modern family home that is drenched in wonderful and diverse shades of her favorite color. Check it out!
From Emily: Hey local Portland people! While I’m still on my PR campaign to make sure the rest of the world knows we’re not a warzone, I also wanted to highlight two local second-hand stores that I donate to (and they’re amazing). I sell all my wonderful clothes Consinee Couture In the charming Multnomah Village, and I left a lot to be desired earlier this week. Literally, like 6 bags containing a ton of well-worn goodies (Ulla Johnson, The Great, Cézanne and NWT Madewell). I usually try to close my eyes when I’m going in because they have so much good stuff. Anyway, if you stay here, go to Consign Couture for barely-used designer clothes at great prices (and then have lunch). yallapop into JP GeneralAnd don’t forget to stop form and function A block away – I love that design shop).
For everything else (including lots of nice baby clothes) I donate shirt pantsWhich is a super cool thrift store in Hillsdale (by City Thai), run by a 23 year old guy who has taken social by storm in the strangest way possible (by strange I mean good, but it’s very hard to explain – you have to follow him to understand why/how he’s been banging a rock called “Crystosphere” for hundreds of days until it turns into a sphere). Anyway, I used to donate to Goodwill, etc., but I like to support their business, which has a huge cult hit in Portland (and lots of teen thrifts there).
From Marley: Last week, I shared with you my must-haves for making the transition to winter more bearable… and somehow I forgot the most important thing. You may have heard or read things about it online hatch alarm clock And thought, what’s the big deal in this?? I’m here to tell you: everything. Here, let me paint you a picture of my daily routine pre-hatch:Get ready for bed, doomscroll, go to sleep with lights on, turn off lights, can’t go back to sleep, turn on Spotify white noise playlist, fall asleep, wake up startled by some “ad” in the white noise playlist… then alarm goes off in the morning, blink 4 times, struggle to stay awake because my room is so dark, surprised I’m so tired and Why am I angry??
Okay, you got it… here’s my routine Post,Hatchera:Get ready for bed, tap the top of my hatch – a nice red light comes on, so I turn off my lamps, spend a little time on my phone or read, then 30 minutes later, the red light dims, and some white noise comes on. Sometimes it’s a rushing river, sometimes gray noise, sometimes a classic box fan… hello options. After 10 minutes, the white noise volume increases, and that’s my cue to put the phone away. Good night! In the morning, 30 minutes before I wake up, a nice soft blue light comes on… then it gets brighter, turns orange, then completely yellow… then some soft birds chirping starts, maybe wind chimes… A few minutes later, my “alarm” is going off, but I’m already waking up, slowly and comfortably. And I’m in a good mood, revolutionary! (All that; noise, timing, color are all customizable in the app)
Some of you may find this unnecessary, which is fine, congratulations on your healthy sleep habits (I don’t envy you at all) – but as someone who is late to bed and has had to literally drag me out of bed every morning since she was 2 years old – this little machine has really made my life so much better. I actually got this as a Christmas gift from my parents a few years ago, and god, I wish I’d had it as a teen (gift idea!!). When I received my item, it was only around $100, and they have since raised the price, but also New version that’s more design-forwardI think anything you actually use *every day* will always be worth it, but if you don’t want to splurge, I recommend checking out your local FB Marketplace! They also sell cheap duplicates online, but then you don’t get the customization and benefit of the Hatch app, which I think it really does 🙂
From Gretchen: While rearranging some furniture this weekend, I was reminded how much I love keeping it these furniture sliders On hand! When that “style/sports/everyday” itch hits, especially when living alone, these sliders make it so easy to move your larger pieces in a jiffy without any damage. We used them at M’s house a few weeks ago when we were updating the living room, swapping out the walnut midcentury piece with rustic blue cabinets, and it took all of us five minutes with these sliders! Plus, these are great because they work on hardwood or carpet and have been extremely durable so far.
From Caitlin: I did it, guys: I’m totally crazy. (I mean, how could I not do that after reading Arlene’s poem about dressing up for joy?) I’m, of course, speaking about myself. New Tortellini Cabinet KnobsI had no idea ceramic pasta could bring so much excitement! To me, they are a perfect blend of form and function – they are subtle and rounded from a distance, but festive and happy when seen up close. Each knob was handmade Kolos CeramicsSeattle-based ceramic expert, and I’m so thrilled to support her small business. If you’re looking for a great gift, might I suggest $30 Pasta Spoon ComfortHis $11 ceramic pin (How cute would blueberries be as a lapel pin?), or that Pickleball Espresso CupJoin me on the crazy side!!! We are having fun here!!!
From Mallory: This $50 denim jacket It’s been on constant rotation for me lately, and I couldn’t love it more. It’s lightweight but roomy enough to layer when needed, and has a solid boxy fit. Also, I love the leather collar detail!! Very barn jacket chic and totally reminds me of This one M wore his barn jacket in the post but for very little, but for very little.
Also from Mallory: Okay, here’s something extremely important for your Sunday… I went to Anthro over the weekend and gasped when I saw this sweaterIt’s a dog wearing a cowboy hat!!! And shoes! I am passionate about it.

Also from Mallory: I went to the Dwell Open House event last week and it was amazing. If you haven’t heard about it, Dwell is hosting an annual House Tour event in LA, where you can tour some incredible residential homes. Initially we visited the famous Hollyhock House, and then we went to other places, all of which were incredibly inspiring. There were a lot of homeowners and architects there too, and it was a lot of fun talking to them. Truly one of the best Saturdays ever – we will do this every year!!
From Arlin: Maybe it’s the fact that my adolescence was during the undeniable heyday of the graphic T-shirt renaissance, but I love a silly little graphic hat. so when i saw It’s “Running Late” In my favorite fall color, I picked it up almost immediately. Oh, did I mention it was also on sale for less than $15?!? This “foolish swan” There was an even stronger contender, but ultimately, I decided that I didn’t need to be known as that mom who always says something ridiculous on her hat at school drop-off time. One was enough for now…
From Jess: Knowing me means knowing that I wear almost exclusively, matte neutral eye makeup. I’ve had This great patrick ta one For a few years now, but I didn’t use enough shades, some broke, and as a minimalist makeup girl, it was a bit big to travel with. Oh, and my favorite everyday color was running out. So while I was at Sephora, I learned this amazing thing Makeup by Mario Matte PaletteThese are all warm neutrals, a nice medium size, and I know I’ll use most, if not all, of these colors. I have a few other products from her and love them! Lastly, both palettes are amazing (I just discovered This one too!), but I’m really excited to get into this new one.
Thanks for a wonderful week in this little design corner, and see you all tomorrow for a great reveal!
