Oreo popsicles are a simple delicious dessert made by pouring a mixture of crumbled Oreos and milk into a mold. It is easy to make at home and does not require any special equipment, you can even set it in small cups. All you have to do is mix everything together, pour into the mold and freeze for a few hours until it sets properly.

It is mostly made during the summer season when the weather is hot. It tastes rich and lightly sweet with small soft crunchy pieces of biscuit inside. What makes it different is its texture, you get a smooth creamy milk base with soaked Oreo pieces in every bite. It almost feels like chocolate biscuit and ice cream together in one stick.

    About Oreo Popsicles

Oreo popsicles are a simple, no-bake dessert using very basic ingredients that are readily available in most kitchens. Milk is the main base and crushed Oreo biscuits are added for chocolate flavor and light crunch. After freezing, it becomes firm but creamy and holds its shape well when taken out of the mold.

This is not a traditional Indian recipe but it has become very common in many households, especially when children are around during the holidays. It has a creamy texture due to the use of full cream milk and biscuit cream inside. Its taste is mostly chocolatey with a slight touch of vanilla which gives a pleasant smell while eating it.

You can try different variations as per your taste and the ingredients available in your home. Adding some fresh cream will make it richer and softer in texture and also more filling. If you want more chocolate flavor, you can add some more biscuits. It doesn’t require standing near the stove, which is very convenient for me.

I usually prepare it on weekends when everyone is relaxing at home and demands something sweet in the evening. I just mix and freeze, and later it becomes a nice surprise for the family.

    Oreo Popsicle Ingredients

    • Milk – I have used it to make the base, it gives creamy taste and smooth texture. You can also use full cream milk for richer taste.
    • Oreo Biscuits – I have roughly crushed the biscuits and put them in the mould. It gives chocolate flavor and soft crunchy pieces on the inside. If Oreo is not available you can use any chocolate cream biscuit.
    • Sugar – I used it for sweetness. Don’t add too much sugar, it may make the popsicle too sweet.
    • vanilla extract – I have added only for taste. It gives off a light sweet aroma. You can use any essence or leave it out.

    Expert Tips

    • Milk – I cool the milk before mixing it. It helps in faster setting and gives better texture after setting.
    • don’t powder – I have crushed the biscuits roughly and not powdered them completely. Small pieces inside the popsicle give a good bite.
    • to fill – You can only fill up to the rim, not overflow. If overfilled, it may fall out when closing the lid.
    • setting time – I usually stay for at least eight hours or overnight. If not frozen completely, it may break while taking out.
    • rinsing – I rinse the mold under running tap water, and gently pull the popsicle out.

    serving and storage

For great taste, serve these straight from the freezer as an after lunch dessert or as an evening snack for kids. Keep the remaining popsicles in the freezer and keep them covered properly. It stays good for a few days without any problems.

Yes, you can make it a day before and store it in the freezer. It remains firm and good to serve the next day.
