about sprinkling sugar
Sugar sprinkles are basically colored sugar crystals that are used as a topping or decoration. They are commonly used on cookies, cakes, donuts and festive bakes. These are very easy to make at home and do not require any fancy ingredients.
When cooled, these sprinkles have a slightly crunchy and dry texture. They may appear a little moist in the beginning but once they dry, they become perfect. When cooked at low temperatures the color comes out bright and shiny. Let them cool completely, so that they do not stick to each other.
You can make sprinkles in any color you like, yellow, green are common but you can also try blue, pink or mixed colors. If dried properly and kept airtight they can be stored for a long time. I usually make small batches so the colors stay fresh. It takes hardly any time and makes baking more fun.
Whenever I make cookies for kids or festivals I usually make these sprinkles. Children also enjoy shaking the bags and mixing colors.
