happy Sunday everyone. We are writing this before Friday, so if there is any big news, it should not be discussed, that is why. We hope everyone can use their voice in any way they can and stay safe. Also, don’t stop! We love our diverse community here, and want everyone to feel and look good. Okay, let’s look at these links.
This week’s home tour Isn’t this your average house! It is like a gallery or museum. You just have to see it.
From Emily: I’m so excited to recommend this thriller to you. The author, Marisa Kashino, is a reader and design lover. And now her debut novel is Killing It (already a best seller and being turned into a series on Hulu). best offer wins It’s entertaining from page one (a couple dealing with an 18-month-old bidding war) and then picks up really fast. The voice and tone are so easy to read that you won’t want to put it down, and the author, Marisa Kashino, is clearly interested in design, so there are a lot of references that I think you guys will enjoy (I think she was previously a design and real estate editor, so her inside knowledge of that industry is clearly at work here). I also love career risks and twists like hers – it’s totally inspiring. If you want a very entertaining, fast read, full of juicy design bits, check out best offer wins.
Also from Emily: Our second post from Brian personal newspaper Thus he decided to become the lead parent (yes, stay-at-home dad, but we’ve all used that term for any gender). Now I know the story, I’ve lived it, and while there are points in the process we both want to forget, I knew how it all happened. And yet I was completely thrilled, and I cried 3 times (I’m very close to this, obviously). I’m so proud of him for being so open and owning up (and not to mention being such an extraordinary leader). I know not everyone’s experiences with men are as positive as mine, but man, this generation of men in our lives are wonderful, totally involved fathers. We have more leading parents in our lives than I anticipated, and it’s pretty remarkable. Anyway, just wanted to flag it in case you missed it yesterday or if this was the post you were waiting to read. It’s very weak and yet entertaining.
From Caitlin: This isn’t my usual recommendation – I’m not a haute couture girl – but holy crap, these gowns. Georges Hobeika’s Spring 2026 collection Are divine. (sending you that website Simply because I can’t find coverage in any design publications!) Color. Pleating. Draping. Very, very, very beautiful. I’m liking dress #4 in image 2, dress #2 in image 3, and all of them in image 4. A little charm just for you!
From Mallory: You may have seen my parents’ living room makeover earlier this week — it was a lot of fun putting it together, and we all had a lot of fun doing it. I wanted to highlight one product from that shoot that I was very impressed by the price of – These crazy affordable curtains! High-quality custom curtains are “nice to have,” but curtains can also look really great without breaking the bank (just make sure they’re pinch pleat and you’re usually good!). I bought these for my parents last year and set them up to surprise them when they went away for a weekend, and they turned out so cute. I was looking for a cream sheer curtain that was over 100 inches long and found these for $25 (for a pack of 2). You guys, I couldn’t be more impressed with them. They made such a big difference in heating their place. I was looking to cover 3 windows, so I needed a few panels and an extra long curtain rod, and I didn’t want to break the bank because curtain panels, rods, and rings can add up seriously. so when i found This adjustable, affordable black rodI immediately took it with me these curtain rings. I am very impressed with their quality and their performance! If you missed it, check out the post to see them in action!
From Gretchen: I recently took a short weekend trip up the mountain with my bestie, and we had a lot of fun, enjoying delicious homemade dinners and lots of mimosas. We made our 2026 Bingo cards (a fun way to re-imagine and track your resolutions/goals for the year) and explored all the amazing nature in our Airbnb’s backyard… but we also managed to squeeze in some solid TV time. Sometimes it’s needed on the weekend! I don’t even want to tell you how many shows and movies we managed to watch in just a few days, but I will tell you that the movie roofer Must see. Based on a true story about an escaped, strangely polite criminal, played by Channing Tatum, the man evades capture for six whole months by hiding/living inside a Toys R Us (RIP). The story was pretty bizarre (and closely follows the real deal), but the acting and storytelling were great. Plus, if it’s a news story that rings no bells, you’ll have just as much fun digging into the original news articles after watching it, I promise. Funny, sweet, weird and a little nostalgic. If you’re looking for an easy weekend watch!
From Marlee: This weekend I was checking out a secondhand athletic store in Portland (Revive on SE Hawthorne, check it out – great assortment and prices) and I found a pair. These Vuori Leggings – This was very serendipitous because I already have a pair of these and they are my favorite – I was literally on their website earlier that week debating on whether I should buy another pair. I’m not the biggest fan of wearing leggings, but these are more comfortable than any other pair I’ve tried. I think the waistband feels a little looser than any other leggings I’ve owned, and you’re able to tighten them with the drawstring (which is a lovely feature) rather than cutting into your stomach. I also feel like these are more mid-rise than most leggings I own – they hit just below my navel rather than going up to my ribs, which I find more flattering. I am 5’8” and wear a size small. I highly recommend these the next time you’re looking for a pair of leggings, especially if you’re sensitive to waistbands and like to avoid super high-rise leggings — and bonus points if you find them used. They had several pairs at this store, and I stopped at Crossroads as well, and they had great secondhand athletic wear. Like, 40 pairs of Lululemon leggings for under $30 — if you have a Crossroads or Buffalo Exchange near you, check them out for athletic-wear!
From Jess: I finally ordered again fresh peaches! What’s a fresh peach, you say? It is a gel that easily and effectively transforms toilet paper into a flushable wet wipe. I love this product, and it doesn’t add much waste. 10/10
From Arlin: I have a new design crush: Mandy Cheng. I recently caught up with the designer through the Arch Digest house tour, and oh my god, all the details are so interesting (just wait until you see the stained glass “transom” on the bannister of the upstairs staircase). Some images of her house were immediately bookmarked in my folders for safe inspiration, but then I found this 15 minute youtube video With extensive travel. Seeing what the house looked like before – and being an old craftsman in complete disrepair – and hearing that she and her husband did a lot of the work themselves due to budget constraints, is absolutely amazing to me. Like, seriously, wow. Take a break from doom scrolling tonight, and instead, check out this home tour. it’s worth it!
Thanks for spending time with us today, see you all tomorrow. xx
