About Vanilla Milkshake
Making vanilla milkshake is very easy and quick. Simply mix the ingredients together to get a creamy shake but the proportion is really important to get a perfect tasting milkshake like in a cafe or restaurant. The subtle sweetness, creamy texture and mild vanilla flavor make this shake refreshing and delicious.
Vanilla milkshake is made with only 4 basic ingredients which include cold milk, vanilla ice cream, sugar and vanilla essence. Indian-style vanilla milkshake is perfect for get-togethers or children’s parties. To make the shake richer and more creamy, ice cream is added to it, alternatively you can also add frozen milk.
This vanilla milkshake has a pleasant sweet taste as it combines ice cream and milk. Vanilla is the basic flavor, it is also popular in other flavors. So it is clear that vanilla milkshake despite being simple gets more attention and popularity among other shakes.
It can be taken simply with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. Since we are adding ice cream while blending the shake, I like to add sprinkles as well as whipped cream topping which looks attractive.

Vanilla Milkshake – 2 Ways
- Vanilla Milkshake with Ice Cream – It is a classic combination of cold milk mixed with sugar, vanilla ice cream and vanilla essence.
- Vanilla Milkshake Without Ice Cream – This is a slightly lower fat version that replaces ice cream. Freeze 2 cups of milk overnight until completely frozen, then add the milk, vanilla extract, a little more sugar and blend until thick and creamy.
Vanilla Milkshake Ingredients
- Milk – Use full fat milk specifically for milkshakes to get restaurant-like creamy smooth shakes. Boil the milk and cool it.
- ice cream – I have used vanilla ice cream here. If you don’t want to use ice cream, freeze 2 cups of milk and add it in place of ice cream while blending.
- vanilla extract – Although we use vanilla ice cream, I use a little bit of vanilla extract or essence to get the punch. I used home made vanilla extract. But if you don’t have vanilla essence then skip it and just use vanilla ice cream.
- Sugar – Although sugar is optional, I like to add it to enhance the sweetness.
