Shrimp curry is a regular dish that we make whenever we get shrimp. But we don’t get prawns often so this time I made sure to click and post it. I realized that if someone cleans it and gives it to me, I can make it non-veg. This time I made prawn curry after taking instructions from Amma.

About Prawn Curry
Shrimp curry or shrimp masala is made using shrimp with onions, tomatoes, coconut, herbs and spices. It is essential to first clean the shrimp from the veins, then wash them thoroughly and then cook them.
If you are a seafood lover then this prawn curry is just for you. It is very tasty and goes well with rice, roti, idli and dosa. Do try this easy and simple prawn curry or prawn masala and enjoy!

Shrimp Curry Ingredients
- shrimp – Choose medium sized fresh prawns.
- onion garlic Fry small onion and garlic.
- Tomato Chutney To make tomato puree, fresh tomatoes are ground and mixed.
- whole spices – Cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves are used for tempering.
- Masala Pasta – A special masala made using coconut and fennel seeds.
- spice powder – Turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder are mixed.
- ginger garlic paste Ginger garlic paste is added for taste.

How to make prawn curry step by step
1. First of all, clean the prawns, wash them, then add turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder to it and keep it aside. Grind coconut with fennel seeds with some water and make a fine paste, keep aside.

2. Heat oil in a pan – add the things under ‘Tadka’, then add onion and garlic and fry till light golden. Then add ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute. Now add tomato puree and masala powder and cook until the raw smell comes out. Then add marinated prawns in it.

2. Fry until the shrimp begin to shrink, about 3 minutes. Prawns release water so check it and then add ¼ of water and close it. Cook until the prawns are soft and completely cooked. When the prawns become soft, add salt as required.

3.Now add coconut paste to it and let it boil and cook until the oil separates and the curry becomes saucy. – Garnish with chopped coriander and turn off the flame.

Serve hot with rice or roti of your choice!

Expert Tips
- The consistency of the curry is purely our preference – if you want more type of gravy then adjust it accordingly otherwise cook it for some time to make it spicy.
- Clean and wash prawns thoroughly before cooking
- This curry also tastes good with roti or rice.

Prawn curry can be served with rice, roti etc. This curry keeps well in the refrigerator for 2 days, reheat and serve.

- 1 spooning Oil
- one and a half small spoon cinnamon
- 2 clove
- 1 Bay leaf
- Some? Curry leaf
To grind to make paste:
- ¼ cup Coconut
- 1 small spoon fennel seeds
