Dahi Puri is my all time favorite chat. Whenever we go to chat, it’s either Pav Bhaji Or Dahi Puri, this is my main order in chat shops. I used all of my colorful ramekins for this post, now you know how crazy I am when it comes to ramekins. Here is my version of homemade dahi puri for you all. About Dahi Puri
In Hindi, ‘Dahi’ means curd and Puri is a crispy puffed bread, hence Dahi Puri means puri in curd. Making Dahi Puri Chaat at home is very easy, once you have prepared the ingredients you just have to assemble them.
It is very easy to make sweet chutney and green chutney. You can prepare it, keep it in the fridge and use it to chat. I even use it for sandwiches – it’s tangy, sweet, spicy and it’s all bursting with flavor!
You can make puri and chutney a day in advance. On the day of serving, prepare the puris and mashed potatoes, assemble and serve. Enjoy this easy and delicious chat at home.

Dahi Puri Ingredients
- Puri – There are readymade puris available in shops, you can buy them or make puris at home.
- Curd – Curd should be thick, beat it well with sugar and use.
- Potato – Cook the potatoes until they become soft and mash them.
- Green gram pulses – Boil moong dal and add it.
- lick the chutneys – Green chutney and sweet chutney are added.
- spice powder – Red chilli powder, chaat masala powder, roasted cumin powder are added.
- save – Add Bhujia/Sev for garnishing for crunch.
- Onion – Adding raw onion as garnish gives good taste.
- coriander leaves – Add chopped coriander leaves for garnish.
How to make Dahi Puri step by step
1. Mash the potatoes, add cumin powder, turmeric and mix well. Keep aside. – Mix sugar and salt in curd, beat it well and keep it ready. Gather all the ingredients. – Arrange puris in a plate. Carefully make a hole in the center of each puri. Add mashed potatoes and green gram dal inside each puri.

2. Then add some curd in it, then add onion. Mix remaining curd, green chutney and sweet chutney in each puri.

3. Sprinkle red chilli powder, chaat masala powder on top, then add sev. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve immediately.

Expert Tips
- Once it is assembled, serve it immediately, otherwise the puris will turn soggy.
- If you prepare the chutney then it is easy to assemble and serve Dahi Puri.
- You can either use sprouted moong or pressure cook it and use it immediately if required, which is what I did. You can also add sprouts.

- one and a half cup Curd
- ¼ cup save
