When it was all so much, I was never good enough to be a Tumblr girl. I was also pretty averse to technology and the internet at the time, which is really crazy considering my job and I love it. However, this post might be the closest to that “Tumblr Girl” aesthetic/vibe. It’s filled with tons of vintage-y, imperfectly styled inspo photos filled with filet crochet that I hope will get your creative juices flowing. I am mesmerized by this fashion trend and how it is going to enter our homes! Of course, it’s not new and is actually quite old, but as the design world leans more into “lived-in”, layered spaces, I think we’ll see more of it, especially since it’s all the rage at the moment (usually an early predictor of design trends). This is what I was seeing in fashion when I was shopping for my summer holidays this year…

Although you won’t see me in this kind of transparent skirt, I still think it’s very beautiful! It’s interesting, vintage-inspired, delicate and very charming.

Here’s another beautiful set. I’m telling you that while I know it’s almost summer time, so these styles are good for summer, these crochet-inspired/lace pieces are everywhere. is here Second From Mango, but at least it’s not 100% transparent 🙂 Actually, don’t get me started on the sheer trend. I love it visually on my screen, but for my bottoms, dresses, and most tops, I need some lining!

I like her outfit as long as it reflects her confidence 🙂 But regardless, I love the mix of shapes and patterns. Very fresh yet steeped in nostalgia.

But fear not, you don’t have to show off your cheeks if you want to get in on the trend, because this sweet headscarf is a perfect “toe dip” into it.

However, this is a design blog, so now that you have a sense of what’s going on on the fashion side of filet crochet, let me show you some of the ways I’m thinking of how it can be implemented in your home.

Are you kidding me? I love the style of it, the imperfect way of hanging this panel and how much texture and soul it adds to the room. Plus, it’s the perfect fabric to mix with almost any other color or pattern. Look how great it looks with that cabinet curtain!

Did your heart also skip a beat?? It makes me want to go to a small town in Europe and drink coffee (or wine) all day. I really like all the negative space. It is cool and bold at the same time. The question is, where can I hang something like this in my apartment??

Perhaps it’s also time to define filet croquette. According to Google, “It is a technique that uses double crochets and chain stitches to create grid-like patterns, which resemble lace or lace in low-resolution images.” So not all of these examples are grid-like, so they may not technically fall under this definition, but they definitely have a “low-res” and “lace” quality that I can’t get enough of.

Look at this! This gives you a little more privacy than others, but still has negative space and is a dreamy “semi-private” room divider. But door curtains are, of course, not the only way to apply this style to your home…

Place it on a glass front door! If your style goal is an eclectic, casual, layered look, I think this is an excellent and fairly easy way to help you achieve it. I really like how this one above is stuck to the door, but here are some other examples.

Can’t tell if it’s pinned or just hanging, but because of the pattern and tight stitching, it seems to provide a good amount of privacy. Beautiful and practical 🙂

I love that it’s really just decorative, and it couldn’t get more attractive than that! Well, actually, I think it’s like hiding the curtains behind you, which is a great renter hack.

I really can’t get enough of the warmth they add right away. This pattern is so cute, and from what I can tell about the rest of the room, it’s the perfect texture and pattern pairing.

Think of them as cafe curtains!! Obviously, this is not the most functional type of curtain or partition, but what it lacks in practicality it more than makes up for in beauty and added charm. They can really only make your space look better.

How awesome is this asymmetric?! Perfect for letting light in during the day and a beautiful detail, whether the main curtain is closed or not.

Plus, not just for windows and doors! I love this cute little bathroom shelving cover. Again, a great tenant-friendly hack to cover your less-than-favorite corners.

It is made of metal wretched flowerThat’s why I strongly feel that this crochet/embroidered look is being created for home decor. Isn’t it amazing?! Oh, what I would do to hang this on my blank bedroom wall.

Fun fact (and a little backwards on the fashion side), that metallic curtain design inspired my latest manicure! I’m touched.

Tablecloths are a very easy (and even less permanent) way to incorporate this style into your home. But I have to say, I would be very worried about getting it dirty. But maybe I’m being too precious about it?

    Check this out too!!!

Although it is not a highly accessible application, I still have to show you these crochet framed artworks. Such an instant character!

Even this crocheted pendant is stealing my heart. I guess I just want to prove that if you love this look, there are lots of big and small ways to incorporate it into your home.

Here’s a showcase of a clothing brand that made these chair covers! It’s not meant to be an actual household item (I don’t think), but again, it’s another example of how designers are leaning toward crochet in really incredibly creative ways.

Even this metal chair is crochet/lace inspired!

Finally, before we get to some shoppable pieces, I came across this photo as I was completing my Pinterest research and my jaw hit the floor. While made of wood, these outdoor pieces looked a lot like crochet, and it made me wish (again) that more homes had interesting and incredibly unique design elements.

Well, if you want to feel like a grandmother living in the Mediterranean, here are some extremely beautiful crocheted curtain options for you:

Vintage French Crochet Lace Panel | Vintage French Filet Lace Tablecloth

Long Antique French Net Lace Curtains | Vintage Crochet Cotton Curtain Panel

    Vintage Handmade Fillet Lace Panel

Greek Traditional Crochet Curtains | Crochet Lace Rose Curtain

I know it was mostly eye-rolling, but I think we should all keep an eye out for pieces like this to appear on our screens and magazines more than ever before. And if you want to add a dash of fun to your home, these are never going out of style. True craftsmanship never fails 🙂

I love you, it means it.
