    About Homemade Firecrackers

Homemade crackers are thin salty biscuits that are baked until crisp and crunchy. It is usually made using flour, butter, herbs and simple seasoning. The dough is simply rolled out thinly, cut into small squares and baked until golden. The recipe is simple and even beginners can make this snack at home.

These crackers have a buttery flavor with a mild spice from the chili flakes and herbs that add a nice aroma and make the crackers delicious. The texture depends on how thin the dough is rolled, with thinner crackers becoming crunchy while thicker crackers remain soft on the inside. Apart from this, piercing the crackers with a fork helps the crackers cook evenly and prevents them from swelling.

There are some variations in this recipe that you can try and you can change based on your preference. You can add garlic powder, oregano, black pepper powder or cheese for added flavor and whole wheat flour can also be used instead of maida for a different texture. Some people use oil in place of butter as it gives a crispier texture after cooking.

I usually make this during summer holidays as it is easy and quick to prepare. This recipe doesn’t require complicated ingredients and the crackers also store well. This is a good snack option to make at home and keep for later use.

Each oven may vary, you can increase the baking time up to 15 minutes, not more than that, so keep an eye on it after 12 minutes. Do not overcook, this will make the crackers hard.
