Homemade rice flour involves washing, soaking, roasting, grinding and then sieving, but urad dal flour can be made instantly by just roasting, grinding and sieving.

    – First of all dry roast whole urad dal till it turns golden brown. Cool then pour into mixer jar. Grind it and make a fine powder. Filter it well and remove the remaining part. Fry the sifted flour again until steam comes out. When it cools completely, store it in a clean, dry airtight container.

    Urad Dal Flour Ingredients

urad dal – Use good quality whole unpeeled urad dal. You can also use urad dal with the skin, although it is not usually used for making snacks and sweets as it changes color. Traditionally peeled urad dal is used to make the black, podgy variety. I would recommend using only the whole and not the divided variety.
