Cooking pasta is quite easy if you do it right. It should be cooked soft but not mushy, and have a small crumb in the middle, this is the right texture that makes the pasta taste great. You can mix it with sauces, vegetables or simply dress it with a little olive oil and herbs. It cooks quickly and makes it a filling meal even on busy days.

Making pasta is easy and does not require many ingredients. It does not take much time to prepare and everyone in the family likes it. When cooked properly it will not stick or become mushy. You can use it in salads, baked pasta or just with some seasoning and cheese. Kids love it any time.

    About how to cook pasta

Pasta is one of the most common dishes used in various ways. It is made by boiling it in water with a little salt and a few drops of oil. Once it is cooked properly, you can mix it with any sauce or toss it plain. There are many shapes such as fusilli, penne and macaroni, but all can be cooked using the same method.

The perfect texture of pasta makes it good to eat. It should be soft but slightly firm on the inside, which we call ‘al dente’. If cooked too much it becomes sticky and heavy. If it is less then it remains difficult. Therefore, stirring well and checking occasionally helps in ensuring proper cooking. It makes them nice and puffy.

You can make it fresh and add whatever sauces or toppings you like. It is also healthy as you can control the oil and salt. It is suitable for lunch, dinner or even lunch box. Sometimes I cook extra pasta and keep it in the fridge, this helps when you want to quickly fix a dinner later.

I make pasta quite often, especially on weekends or when I’m lazy to cook a big meal. After draining the water I just add a few drops of oil to keep it separated. This little step keeps the pasta soft even after it’s cooled. I have used fusilli pasta here, you can use any type of pasta of your choice like penne, macaroni, shell, disc etc.

Making pasta is a time-saving all-round recipe that the whole family can eat anytime. Cooking pasta at home has become easy with this recipe. The pasta is usually cooked, tossed in sauces/vegetables and seasoned with herbs/spices.

    Expert Tips

    • stir frequently – I usually stir the pasta occasionally while cooking, so that it does not stick to the bottom or each other.
    • texture check – Always check from time to time whether the pasta is soft but a little hard inside. Overcooked pasta will become mushy.
    • wash after cooking – After draining the water, I wash the pasta in normal running water, this removes excess starch and prevents overcooking.
    • – Add oil after filtering – Adding a few drops of oil after draining the water keeps the pasta separate and makes it easier to toss later.
    • Salt – I have added salt to give mild taste and spice to the pasta. You can use normal or sea salt, both are fine.

    serving and storage

Serve it with any sauce of your choice like tomato, white, or even simple olive oil and herbs. It also tastes good with vegetables, cheese or in baked pasta dishes. You can also cool it and mix it into dishes like salads.

Fill the leftover pasta in a box and keep it in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. Before storing add a few drops of oil and mix so that it does not stick.
