Happy Sunday and Easter to those celebrating. We hope this year’s April Fool’s post makes you laugh, haha. Emily is really the mastermind behind them and never misses a beat. The toilet pillow trend was also pretty hilarious. Look, we’ll take any chance we can to help you all smile. Okay, here are this week’s links.
This week’s home tour It’s both so layered and warm, but also so cool and happy! A real Notting Hill dream. Watch this if you want to smile 🙂
From Emily: A sweet cozy rom-com that I watched over spring break. pre-commitments (kindle + book). i had both Atmosphere (kindle + book) and Project Hail Mary (kindle + book) downloaded to my Kindle (which I left on the plane headed for spring break), so I picked up this book, prior pledge by Jessica Joyce, and it was such a joy to see how sweet, funny, and still page-turny it was. I had forgotten that I loved her first book, you, with a view (kindle + book), and she does nostalgia and first love very well (with a good amount of steam).
From Jess: I’m a huge lover of scented candles, but am extremely particular/some might say “snobby” about them (okay, that’s just what my brother says). Any time of year, any time of day, lighting a candle makes me feel happier. So here are three of my favorites that seem so perfect for spring and summer. First Up is a classic and was originally recommended to the real candle queen, Sarah Ligoria-Tramp – Tatines Garden Mint. It’s so fresh and lovely and takes you to a magical wild garden full of heady herbs. Next is one I found at the Downtown Modernism Flea Market! The brand is Oats and Kulcha. A stunning ceramic brand that also makes incredible-smelling candles. i have “Grigio Celeste” light blue ship (So beautiful) in the fragrance of the market. The smell is warm but light (in feel, not throwing aroma) and very pretty. They also sell diffusers, which I might get at the next flea! It is more expensive because the vessel is a piece of art/souvenir. But the newest addition to my candle arsenal is it’s from roen. This one is more sour, but really special, and I just finished it, so I’ll need a new one asap.
From Arlin: As you may know, if you read my “big news”! Last week’s post, I’m moving on (!!!). We are in huge turmoil right now and by the time you read this, we will have things finished for the movers coming on Monday. I wanted to share something I picked up that has been great for quickly and easily filling small nail holes from all my art. this clever little tube It has a squeegee tip with a slime-like substance that effectively covers small pores. The cap works as a sanding block, and the top serves as a putty knife. It’s all-in-one! However, keep in mind that it’s not good for anything larger than a nail, so it’s not for larger screws or bolts (use normal wall spackle for that).
From Gretchen: I desperately need a hairdresser and recently decided to go to the salon on my street for a consultation. If I don’t go somewhere convenient (or cheap), I probably won’t go at all. Other than box dye (a sin, I know), I haven’t touched my hair in probably a year (terrible, I know), and I’m seriously due for a haircut (or exorcism at this point). She took one look at my dry, dusty hair (which is very legit) and recommended a ton of products for me to try until we met again to actually deal with it. I bought all his documents, but I was extremely impressed K18 Leave-in Mask. It is making my hair very soft, and I believe it is working its repairing magic on a microscopic level. My hair used to be very frizzy, but after a few uses, I’m able to run my fingers through it again, no problem. It smells amazing too! Now the price is pretty high, but you don’t really need a lot for it to be effective, so it’s worth stopping by small size That should empower you to get started.

Emma Chamberlain’s West Elm Collab came out this week, and there were a few pieces we really liked! We love their personality, so it’s no surprise that their collection is quite playful – we’re talking button motifs and ceramic pigeons. Check it out if you’re interested!

From Marley: I really love these shoes -The brown-violet combo is so fun/unexpected, and I’m extremely curious to get them in more colors (since there are so many options). I wear them while walking around town, and they are extremely comfortable. My only note is to reduce the size by half a size!
From Caitlin: I need to talk to a casting director. Which one of us can take me to the next season? that thrilling show?! Dan and I watched all the episodes available on Hulu last weekend, and I am a woman obsessed. The gist: Two teams are given identical rooms, a specific design direction (e.g. “Park Avenue Bedroom” or “Palm Springs Office”), a budget of $2,000, and 2 days in which to design, source, and install a room using only vintage pieces. Contestants go to estate sales, consignment shops, thrift stores, and there’s a lot of Facebook Marketplace to be used – that’s my dream. (There are also some games, at which I was very good, that award benefits to the winning team.) It’s hosted by the inimitable Lara Spencer, and while I was never big on flea market flips — I don’t have that DIY gift — this new show of hers scratches my vintage-lover itch very well. I’m so excited to see a new era of home programming that isn’t just about lightning-fast renovations! But seriously, someone should pick me for next season. (I can arrange old pieces in less than 30 seconds! I can estimate Lara’s thrift items to cost under $4 every time!! I want to play!!!)
From Mallory: Hands down, my favorite follower on Instagram right now Viv Truran – She’s like the stylish British grandma of the internet, and I love her outfits. I want to create more fun outfits, so I’m consuming more fashion content, but Viv is the best to look at. I love when I see confident, happy older women on the Gram – it’s a breath of fresh air from the constantly young, “perfect looking” models that populate my pages. Follow her if you want to see some amazing style and her incredible personality 🙂 Just look how cute she is this outfit It’s on!!
As always, thanks for sharing part of your day with us. see you all tomorrow. xx
