About Biscoff Spread
Biscoff spread is a delicious, smooth and creamy spread made using Biscoff biscuits, milk, condensed milk, cinnamon powder, salt and butter. The name ‘Biscoff’ actually comes from ‘biscuit’ + ‘coffee’ because people liked the combination of biscuits with coffee when served in cafés.
Lotus Biscoff cookies were invented around 1932. They were made by a Belgian baker named Jan Boon Sr. Jan Boon wanted to create a simple biscuit inspired by traditional European spiced biscuits called speculoos. These biscuits had a caramelized, slightly spicy flavor, which made them unique.
Biscuits were packaged in the 1950s Served individually and with coffee in cafes it gained popularity. The idea of turning biscuits into a spread came in 2007. It was inspired by a Belgian TV contest where someone created a spreadable version of the biscuit. Lotus Bakery then developed and commercialized it into the smooth, caramel-flavored spread that is now available in Biscoff spread markets.
