    about puri

Puri is a popular Indian fried bread made using ingredients available in your kitchen. Puri Masala is one of the popular dishes in most of the hotels. Making puris is easy and I have shared tips for beginners to make perfect puris.

I rarely make puri at home because it is mostly chapatti. But whenever we make chapattis for ourselves, we make small puris for Mittu and Gugu in his lunchbox. Since both the children also like home made puri very much.

I feel like if you give me puri every day I can eat it, I love it so much. It was really a tough time cracking the puffy puris, but looks like I have done justice to it. Although my favorite combination is puri and chana ork hole masala, hubby likes puri masala.

    2. Separate balls of equal lemon size (or slightly smaller). Take a ball and roll it out with the help of a rolling pin, ensuring that the thickness is uniform. Do not roll it very thin as we make for roti/chapati, it should be a little thick.

How to make puri step 2

3.Heat oil, carefully drop the puris one by one (also depends on the size of your kadhai). Once it is completely immersed in the oil, press gently in the middle with your spatula, keep pressing until the puri is puffed up from all sides. Turn to the other side, when it turns golden brown, remove and drain.

How to make puri step 3

Serve hot puffed puris with aloo masala/chole masala!

    Expert Tips

    • Make sure there is enough oil in the pan to dip the puris.
    • Also, the oil should also be hot for the puris to rise properly. To test, pinch a small piece and put it in the oil, it will rise immediately, the oil is hot enough, otherwise heat the oil for a few more minutes.
    • Apart from this, adding rava to wheat flour makes good crispy puris like in hotels.
    • First, to heat the oil, increase the flame to medium high and then reduce the flame to medium.

    serving and storage

Serve hot puris! It is best to serve puri with aloo masala, although it also tastes great with chana masala.
