About Chow Chow Kootu
Chow Chow Kutu is made using chayote, toor dal, coconut, onion, tempering spices and herbs. Kootu is a South Indian side dish made using lentils, coconut along with vegetables of your choice.
You can also use a small pressure cooker to make this kootu quickly otherwise use the stove top boiling method which takes a little time. This buckwheat can be used as a base for many vegetables like carrots, beans, etc.
I always use this recipe as the base for most of my buckwheat dishes. To make buckwheat thick, you can also mix rice flour with water in it. This is a tip I learned from my mom.
