    About Pasi Payaru Sundal

‘Paasi Payaru’ is green gram dal and ‘Sundal’ is basically a stir fry dish made from beans, hence Pasi Payaru Sundal is a stir fry dish made from green gram dal. Sundal is made during Navratri but you can also make it at regular breakfast time as it is nutritious and healthy.

I am fond of sundal varieties and this sundal has been my favorite since childhood. Amma used to make sundal at least twice a week and I am also trying to incorporate that habit. Mittu and Gugu like Sundal varieties but are limited to very few.

    Expert Tips

    • You can also add powdered jaggery to it, but I always heat it and filter it to remove impurities.
    • I did not make the syrup thick, just reduced it to a semi-flowing consistency. You can make the jaggery syrup a little thicker to wrap the sundal, it is your choice.
    • You can make an easier version by just mixing jaggery syrup and coconut without any tempering, it also tastes good.
    • You can also add green chillies instead of red chillies.
    • Adjust sweetness as per your taste. It is mildly sweet as per the given measurement.

    serving and storage

Pasi Payaru Sundal can be served at breakfast time. It keeps well in the refrigerator for 1 day.
