Expert Tips
- Adjust sugar as per your taste. I used milk bread, so added 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon honey, which was perfect.
- You can also replace white sugar with demerara sugar.
- Use a nonstick pan for toasting that prevents sticking.
- While dipping the bread slice, dip it well so that it gets coated well on both the sides.
- You can serve it with maple syrup, date syrup or a little honey or eat it plain.
- I usually don’t add vanilla essence as I like the taste of plain eggs but it is your choice.
- You can give many variations to this simple bread toast β add orange peel, lemon zest for a different taste.
- You can make it tasty by adding salt and black pepper powder instead of sugar and honey.
- If you do not have custard powder then add corn flour and vanilla essence which will give similar taste.
- While dipping the bread, do not leave it for too long, keep a few seconds on either side of the bread otherwise the bread pieces will become mushy and stick to the pan.
- preferably use nonstick dosa tawa so that it does not stick.
serving and storage
French toast should be served hot and fresh. I wouldn’t recommend stocking as it only takes 10 minutes to make.
