    About Mango Slush

Mango Slush is a simple summer drink that is made in many homes when mangoes are in season. It is not heavy like a shake, but more like a thick ice drink with fruit flavor. It is usually served chilled in a sugar rimmed glass for added flavour. Many people make it when they need something quick and fresh.

This recipe has a slightly grainy texture from the crushed ice and a smooth texture from the mango pulp. It tastes sweet with the slight sourness of lemon juice. Mango gives thick body and bright color. Ice makes it cool and refreshing. Once mixed, it should not be completely smooth, small pieces of ice give the feel of real slush.

You can adjust the sweetness depending on the type of mango or omit the sugar if the mango is very ripe. Some people also add mint leaves or a little soda for a change. It is also used as both a drink and a light dessert. It has a thick, sticky texture with a sweet mango flavor and mild tartness of lemon.

I usually make this when mangoes are at home and everyone wants something cold quickly. My family enjoys it straight after blending. It goes away very quickly on a summer afternoon.

    • Mango – Mango is used for sweetness and fruity taste and bright color.
    • Sugar – I have used sugar for sweetness and you can also replace it with honey.
    • lemon juice – I added lemon juice for mild spiciness, it balances the sweetness. It also gives refreshing taste.
    • ice cubes – Ice cubes are used for a cool, frothy texture, making the drink refreshing. It also gives a grainy mud-like feel when mixed.

    Expert Tips

    • Mango – I usually use ripe sweet mangoes for good taste, if the mangoes are sour then add a little more sugar.
    • ice texture – I only mix for a few seconds so the ice remains a little thick to get a proper slush feel.
    • sweetness – I taste the mangoes before adding sugar as some mangoes are already very sweet so adjust the quantity accordingly.
    • mixing time – You can stop mixing when the ice looks partially crushed. Adding more makes it watery and less runny.
    • serving glass – I just use a cold glass to serve, it keeps the slush colder for longer.
    • Lemon – I like to add lemon little by little as too much can make the taste spicy.

    serving and storage

Serve this drink immediately in chilled glasses with a sugar rim, if necessary. It tastes most refreshing after blending and also works well as a summer drink or light dessert. Do not store after mixing as ice melts quickly. At best it is only good for a few minutes.

    general questions and answers

    1.Can I skip lemon juice?

Yes, lemon juice can be omitted if you like only sweet taste. But a light touch gives a better balance.

2.Why does my slime become watery?

This happens when the ice is mixed too much or left out for too long. Blend for just a few seconds and serve immediately.

3.Can I make it without sugar?

Yes, if the mango is already sweet then sugar cannot be added. Ripe mango usually gives adequate sweetness.

4.Can I use the blender without ice?

Yes, you can, but the texture will be more juice-like. Ice gives actual slush consistency.

    5.Can I use other fruits?

Yes, you can also try strawberry, pineapple or orange.
