    We usually make plain salty vermicelli along with sweet vermicelli. Sometimes I also make this lemon vermicelli. Although I like it sweet version I can eat it with the sweet version. Hubby loves anything salty, so of course this is his favorite too, and Mittu is like me, he likes the sweet version.

    About Lemon Vermicelli

    Lemon Vermicelli is made by first preparing rice noodles, then cooking it with seasoning ingredients and finally adding lemon juice to give it the tangy flavor and taste of lemon. Lemon Vermicelli is a simple lemon flavored vermicelli and you can make many types of vermicelli with it.

    This lemon vermicelli recipe is very simple and quick to prepare. It is perfect to pack for lunch box also, you can pair it with tomato chutney which is the best combination.

    Lemon Vermicelli Ingredients

    • Idiyappam – You can use home made rice noodles or buy them from stores.
    • lemon juice – With the help of lemon squeezing machine, extract lemon juice and keep it ready.
    • turmeric powder – Turmeric powder is added for taste and color.
    • Peanuts – Roasted peanuts are added as it gives a nice crispiness while eating.
    • tempering – A simple tadka is made using oil, mustard, chana dal, curry leaves, asafoetida, red chilli etc.

    1.Prepare Idiyappam. Cool it and then separate it and keep it aside. Heat oil in a pan – add the ingredients listed under ‘For tempering’, fry until the dal becomes crisp and the peanuts turn golden brown. Then add turmeric powder, asafoetida and fry for a minute.

    • 1 and ½ cup Idiyappam
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 generous Pinch turmeric powder
