Dahi Bada is my favourite. Ever since I tasted chaat style dahi vada in the supermarket, I wanted to recreate it at home. I love anything curd based and when it comes to chatting, I can’t stop myself. Dahi Puri This is my favorite followed by my all time favorite North Indian style Dahi Vada.

About Dahi Vada
In Hindi ‘Dahi’ means curd and ‘Vada’ is donut shaped crispy salty snack hence Dahi Vada means vada in curd. If you have leftover medu vada then making dahi vada is quick and easy, it tastes very tasty.
I had some extra medu vadas the previous day and used them for this – but you can also shape them like bonda if you want. I have many friends who ask me how to shape the vada, it comes with practice, I have shared all the tips and tricks I have learned during my medu vada making journey.

Dahi Vada Ingredients
- medu vada – Make vada and let it cool then use it.
- Curd – Curd should be thick, beat it well with sugar and use.
- lick the chutneys – Green chutney and sweet chutney are added.
- spice powder – Red chilli powder, chaat masala powder, roasted cumin powder are added.
- coriander leaves – Add chopped coriander leaves for garnish.

How to make Dahi Vada step by step
1. Take curd and milk in a bowl and beat it well. Keep the vadas ready. Soak it in milk curd mixture for 30 minutes. Turn occasionally.

2. At the time of serving: Take out the vadas in a serving plate. Then pour thick curd mixed with salt over the vadas. Sprinkle red, green chutney, sprinkle chaat masala, red chili powder. Garnish with green coriander and serve.

Expert Tips
- Soaking the vadas in milk + curd mixture prevents sourness.
- Adding onion to the vada is completely your choice. You can also leave it in the vadas and add raw onion while serving.
- The quantity of green and sweet chutney can be adjusted as per our preference. You can prepare the chaat chutney a day before and keep it in the fridge for convenience.
- I have used leftover medu vada, you can also make these as round bonda balls.
serving and storage
Prepare chutney and sev. On the day of serving, make medu vada and assemble the chaat and serve immediately.

- one and a half cup cold thick yogurt
- ¼ cup Milk + 2 tbsp curd
- 2 small spoon green chutney
- 2 small spoon sweet chutney
- one and a half small spoon chilli powder

- salt to taste
