I’m so excited about this sweet little cottage kitchen design. This one is more for those of you who are into small spaces, DIY, and leaning into the sweet cobbled-together nature of a vintage cottage, rather than an Amber Interiors style luxury farmhouse kitchen (which I love, obviously). While a lot of things are up in the air, the layout is pretty firm (and feels so good). Y’all, it needs to be very basic. Yes, it needs to function well enough for our team to make lunch, shoot some food posts, bake pizzas and popcorn for my tween kids when…
Artwork, above all, should hit you right in the heart. The pieces in your home should make you feel happy and seen because, well, it’s art that you specifically chose. Emily always says that art is worth investing in because it’s what really makes a home feel personal, interesting, and you can easily move it with you to your next place. But we know that choosing art, especially “cool art,” can feel super overwhelming because where do you even start?? I’ll give you some “good to think abouts” in a moment:) But if you look at almost any EHD home,…
For anyone who has ever had a mountain of books and no place to put them, the obvious answer is “get a bookshelf.” But what should someone do when they don’t really want to commit to a huge bookshelf because they only plan to live in their rental home for a year or two before buying, and aren’t sure what the storage situation will be like in their next residence? Also, there’s a sofa floating in that same person’s room that feels a little unhinged (and a little unbalanced with the width of the fireplace in front of it). Well,…
This is a real “give a rat a cookie” situation. Here’s what happened – I added that incredible painting in the stair landing, which brought so much joy and happiness to the room (and to me) and reminded me that I love color! “Oh my God, I’m literally in and out of my mind.”I am sophisticated and like neutral people,” to “Give me all the colors,” like my daughter did when she was 6. This has to do with life stages (when my life is more chaotic, I need neutral people, but when things seem manageable, I can be more…
First and foremost, Happy Mother’s Day!! If you are a mother, we hope this day is filled with lots of love and appreciation for everything you do. If you are remembering your mother, we also want to honor you. This day really does bring a lot, both good and hard, so be kind to yourself no matter what emotions you’re feeling. And if a part of that sweetness is reading this link, we are very grateful and hope it brings a smile to your face. Let’s dive in
I find that a lot of casual stretchy pants look like pajama pants on me (or downright crappy). The pockets were in the wrong place, bulkiness was added in the wrong place at the hips, and they were so long and oversized (totally ineffective, imho). But my desire for easy-to-wear soft pants (that don’t look like sweat) won out, and I ordered a bunch to see which lightweight, summer-weight pants were actually flattering. I scored. I may never wear tight pants again. Also, really quick about Quince (non-spawn) – I’m starting to think that they test their clothes/shoes on real people…

Guest rooms are famously filled with leftover furniture, which is great because it’s a great place to keep your favorite items that might not fit in other rooms you care about more. So this room is still a work in progress, but there was a lot of new stuff to show you. About four years ago, when we first moved in (what time is it), it looked like this (and it was pretty cute).photo by caitlin green | From: Guest Bedroom Revealphoto by caitlin green | From: Guest Bedroom Reveal by photo caitlin green | From: Guest Bedroom RevealIt didn’t…
Last week, I wrote about some trends at High Point Market this spring, and in that, I broke down sofa colors that were everywhere: Olive green, mustard yellow, pinky terracotta, brown, and (in retrospect), I’ll add slatey blue to that list. And all of that is all well and good, of course. The non-neutral, colorful sofa has been getting more and more mainstream over the last decade, and I’m HERE FOR IT. But you know what’s one of the hardest things about having upholstery in a punchy hue? Finding a rug to match it.I can speak from experience here. After…
There’s something about a warm, hearty dish simmering in a slow cooker that feels just like home. Tender Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli is one of those dishes that brings back sweet memories – perhaps from sharing meals with family or enjoying cozy nights in with loved ones. This dish is pure comfort food, perfect for family dinners, especially on cool evenings or on busy weekdays when time is tight. At the heart of this comforting dish are tender pieces of beef, paired beautifully with vibrant broccoli florets, all cooked to perfection in a flavorful sauce. Main ingredients include 1.5…
